We had a hill pony by the Dances with Wolves stallion - she was very spicy and made a fab, quite competitive PC pony!! One of our neighbours had several of this breeding too - they were fabulous horses and we were considering buying one of the mares when they sold up. That wasn't to be sadly. Bon looks so much fun :) I really hope you have a lovely time together.

To respond to your edit @Cragrat I'm pretty confident he won't be going anywhere. Honestly I kind of like the security that if it all went horribly wrong for me I'd have a home to send him to tomorrow where he'd be secure and safe for life. I couldn't have ever afforded something like this - even the version that arrived on new years eve - so I'm content to chip away as we are

Oh he is lovely! I am biased, owning a spotty myself but he is just what I would be after when I eventually have enough money for another one! Hope you have lots of fun with him ?

We had a longer hack today. 4 of us, up and down some hills, some cantering quite a bit of road work, quite a few dogs and apart from his tendency to panic cantering upsides/being passed close he was great. Saw some trains - he's much happier when they arent right next to him but I can forgive that, they're noisy big and fast. We also saw some roadworks which are fine, and a big cement lorry which was not fine
We were out with Charlie who being a supercob and up for imminent sainthood was obviously impeccably apart from getting a bit concerned about the cement lorry. Another cob livery who is Charlie mark 2 basically and an absolute champ, and a new livery who was a bit more reactive (ridiculous ?)
Bon was a champ though up front almost the whole way, he's so rocking horse in his canter that the rest pass him and then we get left behind while he recovers ? so after the first canter I just popped at the back in advance and he was perfect.
Also went over bridges (again in front) and through stiles. He hesitates but goes, there was only one stile that was tricky, it's narrow and he needs me to be there with my leg when he worries but I needed to get my legs out the way to not get caught up or clank ? so I had to be a bit quick there but he's improved so much with heavy traffic now, I'm super proud of him.
He doesn't much like waiting, and does spook at things but even when he has a moment he settles down again so quickly ?

Unfortunately the vet confirmed he does have a couple of sarcoids today - they came for his jabs - so he's going to be a bit spendy soon ? Hopefully they'll treat and sort them in one go though, I've got him some sarc ex too

I want to do the farm ride with you - two lightweight pretty spotties together, we'll be spectacular!

He's looking great, you were a lucky girl when he fell in your lap. not jealous

.
Let me know when you move and I'll sort something.
I have been so lucky with both my black and white boys. I am well aware of it and hugely grateful to whoever has been watching over me.
I did a pole clinic with both recently. I rode back to back Bon then Charlie and having had a chat about both at the start the instructor (I've not met before) was lovely with Bon and very complimentary, I then pulled Charlie out and after seeing him trot round she just quietly said "they're both fantastic, you're really lucky" ??? and I truly have been blessed with them both they put the biggest smile on face. I'd not long ended an abusive relationship with an alcoholic the second time Charlie fell in to my path and I'm so glad I didn't miss out a second time, he's literally given me so much of myself back.
Having missed out on so much for so long with my ex I'd resolved not to turn down opportunities because the time wasnt right or whatever - mainly thinking of gigs/theatre/nights out but Bon fell in that category too and here we are.

Sorry that was all a bit overshare, I don't know what's got in to me at the moment

Bon trashed the fence yesterday. He got stuck somehow, and freed himself by demolishing 2 posts and pulling down 20ft of fencing ?? somehow escaped with a graze (and a cut but I actually think that's a coincidence and happened later)
He's somehow sound today and in fact went the best he's ever gone his steering and way of going is improving hugely. Keeping his canter and actually turning is a huge achievement for him, he makes me smile so much.
My yard owner had a sit on him and really enjoyed him too - I got a sit on her B stallion as a swap, he's a bit of a dude ?
Then when we got back on the yard this happened Screenshot_20220416-205826_Facebook.jpg
That's Charlie's owners 11 year old cantering my 16hh sports horse round ?
My heart is just so full right now

Well, he's super recognisable ? I'm mostly out with Charlie at the moment but again we stand out among the bay sports horses ??? please do say hello if you see us anywhere though I usually make a friend whenever we go out competing, and his owner is super chatty

Well, he's relatively clean here ?Screenshot_20220508-195811_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220508-195801_Gallery.jpg
He's hacking well and enjoying life, really sane and sensible on the roads now coping with all sorts passing as well as kids playing - footballs, bicycles etc. I'm happy with how he's looking and going. Trying to get a picture was comical though, any time I got my camera out he just wanted to follow me about yet when I left him to get some fly spray (with someone standing by in case) he stood like a rock ?

Meet Bon
He belongs to a lady I know (good friend of a good friend) who was keen to have him in a home with a bit more of a job than he had with her but as he's a little bit sensitive she was keen to make sure he went to the right person.
He's a very sweet, low mileage rising 8 year old - looks and acts more like a 4/5 year old. He sort of squirts off in canter in the arena, I think the wrong rider going to try him in a sales situation would upset him a fair bit. He's got a fair pop on him though, more than enough talent for anything I'd do.
His owner is more in to dressage than jumping now and rather than make a square peg fit a round hole he's come to live with me to see how we get on.
Its all a bit fairytale really (apart from that I have to pay bills and he's adamant that he's utterly starved)
He's pretty good hacking although he's unsure on road markings, double decker buses, speed bumps and roads changing colour ? urban life has certainly come as a bit of surprise to him.
The first pic is the cleanest he's been since he came on the day he arrived ??
I've gone from a 50% white competition horse to a 90% white one - what was I thinking ?‍♀️ however, a good horse is never a bad colour and he's a real sweetie.
Last pic is the result of being a bit full of himself schooling yesterday ?View attachment 86311View attachment 86312View attachment 86313View attachment 86314View attachment 86315View attachment 86316View attachment 86317

Someone asked how Bon was doing so I thought I should update this a bit. He's had his first "dressage" lesson today. My trainer likes him (obviously) he was willing and sweet, and on the right track. Needs a bit more lateral work to even him out, and a bit of work in the canter but otherwise he behaved beautifully and was most obliging. She definitely thinks there's lots more to come from him.
Some pics of him looking lovely (and a bit grubby)

Happy birthday ? very jealous of your ride!
Thank you, and (late) happy birthday back ?
The new jumps on the farm ride are ideal for green ponies, lots of little trot and pop stuff now. We did one slightly bigger scarier one and he thought he was really something after that ?
He was fab though, in front behind and up sides with his buddy, went ahead and popped easy stuff on his own, took a lead without being strong or losing focus on me.
The friend I rode with is very like me in wanting to keep things easy for green/young horses and build confidence. I know she'll just ride a nice steady rhythm for a lead and just be in a good place if she waits ahead that I can just focus on Bon, makes such a difference
