Bing bong, thank you for flying Bon Air, the most convenient exist is located towards the front on the left ?
We had a steering disagreement, trod on a dressage board which made a noise, twisted off to the right bronking for good measure and off I popped ?
I did keep hold briefly but he was pretty determined he needed to vacate the area, he was easy enough to catch though and fine when I got back on.
Three minutes previously I'd been contemplating trying some changes - he has a natural change anyway and the canter felt so good ?

Oh dear, glad neither of you is any the worse (maybe a little stiff?) for your little mishap though. It had to happen sooner or later, I suppose! Good luck with the changes when you do try them.

Bon Air has quite a ring to it. Maybe a French budget air line? Maybe the landing technique needs some improvement though.

Well, my poor coccyx has been grumbling about the abrupt landing via BonAir so what better than his first xc clinic right?
Lots of very babyish hopping logs, up and down steps etc. My trainer said he's like a lanky teenager with legs he can't quite get to grips with ? She may also have mentioned a flare for the dramatic but we won't talk about that.
We had a couple of googly eyed oh gosh I can't do that moments but were broadly uneventful until the very end playing in and out of steps in to water.
He'd been much braver going in than I expected and even managed out and in via a small (curb height) step. So we graduated to a slightly taller step.
Well, he hesitated getting out up it because there was a puddle, did I hear someone say dramatic ? ? but we made it out of the water we were standing in through the puddle.
Getting in he confidently stomped up in to the puddle - to his credit he does learn quickly. Then stopped, snorted at the water far below, stuck his head down as far as he could, lowered a leg to see how far it might be down and quickly retreated to the safety of the puddle. Charlie who was piloted by his owners daughter was bored by this point and hopped off beside us.
Bon did a little piaffe to assess the situation again, suggested we might perhaps go a different way then finally took a deep breath, had a moment of stillness before he accepted the inevitable and attempted to, I think, jump as far across as possible. I'd had very little rein as I'd been allowing him to look down but somehow we landed in one piece enough for me to give him a pat and a little reassurance that we were in fact together still - largely to avoid a panicked hasty exit from him. Sadly I don't have this on camera, I do however have a nice hop over a roll top

So, dramatic horse continues to be dramatic, some eye rolling and general snorting at the clippers, but he actually stood very well. He's escorted Charlie and owners daughter round the farm ride. He's happy enough in front behind and upsides in all paces. Although he doesn't love a lot of noise coming up behind him.
We had a lovely ride yesterday with 3 trains passing us at close proximity. Got a few canters in which he clearly enjoys - lovely big open strides and he goes from dope on a rope to being really forward, never naughty, just happy and enthusiastic

He looks like such a cool dude ?
He's been pretty ace really - he's not brave or bold but learns quickly and really is starting to feel like he gets it and is having fun. I have a nasty habit of going a bit wishy washy on the last couple of strides - it's because I don't want to be in his way - but he actually prefers me to ride him a bit more, he's more tolerant of a miss and me being a bit in the wrong place than vague riding

Another clinic today.
Mixed bag as we've had snow and ice and I've ridden once this week. He was a bit lit up but just in a yay cantering way and settled nicely.
In some parts we feel like it's really coming together, sometimes I'm a bit scrappy and I just need to be better, but he's good and honest and even after a whoops moment he came and jumped second time for me (when I rode better)
I'll let the pics speak for themselves (from @photo_jo as always ?)

Well, he's mostly clean here, I've included the pic from when he first arrived as a little comparison. It's been just over a year, he's currently a bit full of himself as he's just been clipped out for what i suspect was the first time ever. He's had a few moments of feeling overwhelmed because he's got no hair barrier to sensation at the moment which is quite hilarious but he's looking and feeling fab

Oh and we're finding some proper sideways buttons now, shoulder in, Travers a sort of baby half pass step or two and the bones of piris

Considering at one point he felt like steering a boat I'm super pleased with him. He loves to please and has the nicest most amenable nature you could imagine

Bon spam incoming.
A good horse is never a bad colour 😬
As for the rest, he's done a couple of farm rides recently without being vastly overwhelmed in company, and popping a few jumps.
And today went for a xc clinic at Somerford, trainer was pleasantly surprised how he's come on. He jumped some "proper" jumps this time with a little style rather than just hopping logs. And was brave in and out of steps to the water.
Had a couple of stops when he just sort of lost focus and forgot what he was there for but otherwise great, much braver and keen to have a go.
Popped a little brush which he considered a stop at, tiny fence with a big brush. He got to it, panicked slightly and made very sure he wasn't touching it at all 🤣
No pics from today but here's a few from the farm ride days Screenshot_20230607_193541_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193549_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193536_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193259_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193316_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193333_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193347_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193437_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230607_193515_Gallery.jpg
