As you get older what is the most important thing you have learnt

Righty tight, lefty loosen.

Embarrassingly, I didn't know that until I was 55 yrs old. Would have saved so much time over the years.

OH still asks me which way to turn a screw or bolt to toghten or loosen it. And which way to turn a tap to open it, if she finds it jammed. Some people seem to have a problem remembering "anticlockwise to open".

That, no matter how nice people claim to be, they won't hesitate to screw you over, waste your time and generally behave like knobs, and then try to blame you.

Horses, on the other hand, are at least honest about their intentions. This is why horses are superior in every sense.

Agree with everything that's been said so far.
I have also learnt to be patient when handling horses, don't get angry/annoyed and don't be afraid to take a few steps back...... You haven't failed.

Patience..empathy...that human lives are short and horses lives even shorter...that horses don't stop growing until they are 8....that stupid people don't know they are stupid...that life is very unfair....that karma can exist in real time...to try and act with kindness...there's a time and a place to roll out the scary....

Wow some pretty profound and intelligent answers here!

The main thing I have learned and am continuing to learn is that I don't really like people, and people don't really like me. I find it increasingly difficult to make friends, and care increasingly less. I'm also noticing that people are commenting that I'm an "animal person" with greater and greater frequency...!

😂I can relate to that!!!!!!!

I'm not bullet proof and if I get injured and don't spend the time or get the treatment to recover properly my body will keep on hurting and not work properly.

And if you think bad things will happen when you ride they probably will and if you don't, they probably won't.

Agree with so many posts but the most important I have learnt is not to worry and be bothered what other people think and say. I’m much more thick skinned now
Yes that is my greatest downfall in life, that I care what people think. My partner is always telling me this. I am trying hard to overhaul this human glitch, but in the past it has been the source of much upset, frustration and disappointment in life.

Wearing your heart on your sleeve is not a good idea with the manipulative and unkind individuals in life that you occasionally come across.
