But their views are often because they misunderstand it, they go with what is printed in the media, or they haven't even bothered to look at the facts (on both sides) before forming their opinion.

You for one are against hunting yet have never witnessed a fox killed by hounds...

I have a friend who was born in SA and never hah any opinion on hunting.
She moved here when she was 10.
She doesnt ride, doesnt hunt, but is pro.
Her family have no strong views, she made her own.

I was thinking thats where things have gone wrong and veggie tree huggers are taking over...if every kid in this country was brought up seeing (and helping) their home fattened stock killed people wouldn't have gone so soft.

Veggie tree hugger here!!

In relation to the original posting about conditioning versus ones own opinions on hunting....my family were brought up to be kind to and respect animals and never do them harm. This 'conditioning' in my case led to me being a vegetarian and being very anti-hunting but my brother is a farmer who sees nothing wrong with hunting and killing animals for uses other than to eat. Having said that he is very anti animal cruelty, still very soft hearted and treats his gun dogs a lot better than most, so I guess the basic 'conditioning' stayed with us though the way we turned out couldn't be more different.

PS just nipping off to hug some trees

LOL...don't hug the spiky ones!

Now you see I love animals and hate cruelty, even the way some slaughterman treat animals, they should be respected up until their death IMO.
