The forecast isn't looking so good here! Might have some thunderstorms :(

I've been getting to know my loan horse so will carry on with that - I finally found the 'off the leg' button last night but lost the 'on the bit' button 🤣. He's very sweet, lovely around the stable and we had a good hack around the farm at the weekend too.

I am supposed to be hacking tomorrow but forecast keeps changing its mind about whether there will be thunderstorms. I also never trust when it says 'light rain shower' because it is never ever light rain. Hopefully it won't be so bad as a couple of weeks ago when my hack was cancelled at it was too bad weather to do lessons either.

I had wanted to reschedule to last week but RS couldn't fit me in on the day I could do; really noticing with an extra week gap from when I did the side saddle experience that I am feeling less up for it as that had given me a bit of a confidence boost.

Saturday I am writing for Little Gatcombe BE dressage. I hope the weather is going to be okay for people competing!

Had a sort of joint hen do/ birthday hack with YO and D was the best she's been, went for a speedy canter with no bucking at all and right up to the mountain top to see out to see. I only took rubbish pics unfortunately.

No horse plans for me this week as it's wedding weekend
Have a great wedding weekend!

I'm supposed to be at a ODE training event - but it's on a hill and thunderstorms are forecast. I'm also not 100% convinced the horse I'm taking is sound. Can't see anything on the lunge but he feels "disconnected" under saddle. Bute tonight to see if he feels better with pain relief - because that's always a clue 🤔

If he isn't and the weather looks better by Sunday then maybe I'll take the happy hacking microcob and do cross poles. She'd enjoy it I think & it's too late to get my money back.

Hoping to start our Regumate trial. It was supposed to be in the post today but didn't turn up... Very badly needed...!

Tomorrow I am boxing a few villages away to hack before work, so loading vibes are needed, & behaving ones. Maybe a day in the arena on Saturday & then a low key RC polework thing on Sunday.

I took my loan horse for a cross country school tonight and I had so much fun, which I needed after picking up Nova’s ashes earlier this week. I haven’t jumped a single cross country fence since May 2022, and that was on my old faithful Badger, who I knew inside out and trusted so much. So I rode worse than I usually would! But pony was very good and jumped everything I asked - we didn’t jump anything big though and stuck to around 70cm.

My 5yo is being vetted tomorrow and my anxiety is through the roof about it as I really could do with him being sold to have less through the winter. I have convinced myself he will still be here this winter as will fail and the hassle it will involve trying to deal with two. He is adorable and a super horse but desperately trying to cut down numbers to make winter easier after last year.

Allerton Park BE100 tomorrow - fingers crossed for another good run!
Good luck! Hope you get the run you're aiming for :)

Another hack success today. Weather held off until I was in the car on the way home.

I'm so pleased that my persistence with my off-horse exercises, breathwork and mindset change seems to be paying off. Ideally I would be doing actual riding more regularly and this is definitely something I want to action asap, as that's obviously where the real work of building my confidence all comes together. But I'm doing what I can for now. The nerves were there still today but not as much as previously and when they are there I am better at managing them. When we come across a 'thing' now (today it was horse eating ride on mower) I see it as an opportunity for practice and part of me wants more of the things (within reason) to practice keeping relaxed and riding positively.

Last show of the year for me today as I’m finally having my knee fixed at the beginning of October. I just need one more area sheet as he got the other two last weekend.

Nashville and newbie JT had an outing yesterday - Nashville for a lesson and JT just to see what he was like away from home. They did really well considering there were a lot of distractions - setting up for a wedding right next to the warmup, for example. I wasn’t sure we were even going to manage to get on at one point as they were both wired to the moon due the horse-eating monsters hiding behind the hedges on the other side of the arena.

Sound as a pound but found some sarcoids I had no idea about. They are tiny (hence not seeing) but not in one location and of course it’s a risk so wondering if I give him a month off and jam him full of immune stuff. I really need to get rid of them as want a lot of money for him. I was in despair yesterday as a very shit week after the disaster of Chillington.

They can throw out juvenile warts at that age - which go as their immune system sorts itself out. I took a risk on buying one with a few but a course of Trinity's L94 sorted them out.

Wednesday and Thursday were primarily my horse days.

Wednesday BH did a 3 hour ride, including lots of trot and canter.

Thursday Rigs did a 2 hour ride, including cantering the stubble and a pub visit...

And, in the evening, my boyfriend cantered BH for the first time.

This was his 11th ride ever on a horse. 3rd ever canter. The first was on darling Rigsby, the second on a mule on Mount Vesuvius last weekend, and now this one. We are planning on a mechanical horse as he needs to learn more 'bum down' on the up thrust of the canter, but he is amazingly balanced for his experience.

Yesterday was a total non horse day. My boyfriend had a flying lesson! I went along as photographer.

I was absolutely terrified. The plane looked flimsy and old. It was tiny, it shook just going across the grass. In fact, it barely fitted 2 not huge men inside and when a helicopter took off nearby, we had to push it out of the way as the pilot said that otherwise it would blow away as it was so small.

I think that my fear was heightened as I lost Mr Red last year and I really don't want to lose someone else I love. It would be too hard to bear. But, I know from my competing days, I mustn't let my worries stop his enjoyment of calculated risk. I also know aviation is very regulated and he was, in fact, probably safer in the plane than on the motorway.

Today, I think we are going to Beamish museum. Tomorrow may, actually, be back to a horse day.

It is strange as horses have always been what I 'do' and I was relentless. When Mr Red died, I could barely drag myself outside, let alone to ride. For weeks, Joe Midgely was the only person to ride BH, once a week. Now, I do ride but would rather spend time with my boyfriend when he isn't working. I know that sounds 'normal' but it is a complete 180 for me. I loved my husband dearly but he simply joined me at the events and neither of us could imagine doing, say, shopping, on a Saturday.

Also, many people have wanted to ride BH and have been refused. Now, he goes off to holidays at a different yard, one time for most of this summer, as I have done other life stuff, including refurbishing my house and many holidays with my boyfriend. He has 2 professional riders there but still I wouldn't let anyone else on him. BUT! My boyfriend wants to ride and yes, of course a raw beginner can bounce round on him... That is a real 180 for me!

I think a 180 is normal after what you've been through, trying to find a new normal. It sounds like you're enjoying it, so that's brilliant!
Please tell your BF we're all impressed with his newfound riding skill. And both Rigsby and BH are a credit to you that they can take your BF from complete beginner to cantering so quickly. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures to come.

Sorry to hear that 😓

Like SEL I've had experience of "curing" sarcoids. Chip didn't have any when he arrived but he was badly run down and malnourished. He was grazed next to cattle and I know that several of them had warts/sarcoids plus I was beside a forest with lots of flies.

All sarcoids are unpredictable so they could have fallen off anyway but.... A blueberry sized one appeared on the shaft of his p3nis and a jelly top sized one (scientific measurements!) appeared on his chest.

I've previously treated two horses with Liverpool Cream and whilst it worked for one it was a horrendous process for my mare. Not one I was keen to repeat.

So like any good whackadoodle I started feeding turmeric and applied turmeric mixed eith nappy cream to the chest one. Both sarcoids started getting bigger, especially the chest one. The one on his p3nis completely dropped off and there's nothing to see. The one on his chest burst (I'm presuming) and there was blood on his chest. It healed quickly and never returned.

At a later date I found a small cluster of tiny sarcoids behind an elbow/armpit. I fed the global herbs sarc X and applied their matching cream and they disappeared too. I'd been aware of them but ignored them for a few years as they weren't causing any bother and hadn't changed. It was recommendations on here that had me thinking I had nothing to lose by trying it

I've fed Trinity L94 to three different horses, for different reasons, on a couple of occasions. I've never noticed it making the slightest difference to anything at all. Everyone else seems to have noticeable results when they use it.

I feed oily herbs, and various other powdered herbs, daily too. I don't know if that's helped keep things at bay too.

Hopefully with your horse being young something simple like an immune booster helps
