No thread yet? What is everyone up to?
Lottie and I are heading to Eland Lodge. I don't like eventing 2 weekends on the bounce but my RI said she's plenty fit enough and we will have a break after Eland for a few weeks. It's another Brigante Cup qualifier. At least I know the course well so getting lost is less likely. Not impossible mind - I got eliminated on Amber by going down the metre steps in the BE90.... My plan is to leave her out overnight and hope she will deign to be caught at silly O'clock in the hope that she may be a little less wired in the dressage. Schooling in the morning after a night out is working well so fingers crossed.

Nothing as ankle still bust! Horse now fine so daughter will be riding him gently and then he'll have another few days off while we're at Badminton. I have a mobility scooter so quite excited that I will be able to get around and 'walk' the course.

Have a great time at Eland Lodge AE.

Have fun AE. Not much on here. Some Horse Logistics (it's been a while!). Need to move Kira to the nursery paddock so we can use the stable to scan her next week. probably take the easy route and pop Millie down there with her. She is very much in season (M not K!) so i will use the facilities to de-gunge her and try and get her booked in for a dental too, she will LOVE me haha.

Prob take the lorry to the yard so the boys can do some loading. Lesson on tuesday morning.

Kentucky xc party with friends on Saturday evening, then my little homebred baby is doing his first ever competition with an 80cm ODE at a fairly local venue. I'm swinging between being very excited and very concerned about quite how exciting he might find the warm ups(?)

Ah getting ahead of myself. Hope it all works out. And another Salty baby? You'll be busy next year!

depends on outcome of other life things really, as to whether there would be £££ to do both. Kira is somewhat time-limited whereas hopefully Salty has a few more years in her ;)

I am so excited to be able to contribute to this again! Stormy had a good session at Rossdales and after 5 months of rehab for Kissing Spines, PSD and SI issues we are going to our first BD day camp! I've never done Camp before as it was not Nickel's thing with his health issues. An older me now has decided to try a differed approach with Stormy as she's an ex-racer, she's been to training away from home a few times last year before we both broke. But we never actually got out to a competition. She's showing a lot of talent so I don't want to go out a lot at lower levels like I have done in the past as I don't have my own transport and it is very costly to hire every time. This time I want to concentrate on giving her competition type experiences without the stress of having to leave if it all gets too much for her. Also it's financially more sensible!
So I am off to Silver Leys Equestrian Centre for the South and East BD region, my lesson is Char Lassetter and we are doing Intro C for our test practice - Only because we've only just been given permission to start cantering this week so I am not going to push that yet for a test. It's more about getting her between the boards for the first time.
There is another day camp that I will do and then the 2 night in September at Keysoe, then we will think about getting out competing next year once the season starts and qualify her for RoR etc. She will be 7 but hey ho, I'd rather prep her have her as good as possible.

I was going to be at Bradwall this weekend, but I've W/D because he doesn't feel like he needs another prep-run before Chatsworth and having survived running on the firm last weekend at Kelsall, I don't think we need to do it again. I know Bradwall will do their best on the ground - last year their ground prep was absolutely tip-top - but we haven't had rain for so long there's not much that they can do to fight the weather gods. Eland is on clay, so hope those heading there find that enough prep has been done!

So instead I'm going to box up to go on a long-ish hack with a friend to help keep his fitness up. He galloped yesterday on hill gallops and didn't turn a hair - so I'm hoping that the Chatsworth hills won't phase him when we get there!

Young one has had a week off after a busy few weeks learning what eventing is. Will probably get him back out on Sunday for a quiet hack and then build from there.

Office all day tomorrow. Steady hack Saturday.
Sunday 1st comp on grass, Equicross, but will really look at the ground before getting B off the box.
Monday I have a road trip with B, cant say much now except I and B absolutely have to be spotless and cameras there, but will report back after.

Hope everyone's weekend goes well x

I have spread my weekend, it started today with an indoor arena hire. It is a new management and, despite only having done an arena hire, they offered to do fences etc. I actually got an impromptu lesson. It was great, principally because it was from someone who has produced big draught horses in the past so she didn't nag me to do more as she agrees with me to produce very slowly.

Jumped a full course, including water tray and plank, double too. The fillers were to the side and it was very small, but the rhythm was ace. Baby horse is green and hangs, not a lot of response to the leg, so we are staying small and easy until the responses are trained in.

On Saturday we have a XC schooling. It is on sand, so should be good enough ground to do little bits.

On Tuesday we are boxing off to a farm ride.

Busy pony!!!

Good luck to everyone heading out and about! Bob is off to Cirencester for the advanced on Saturday! The complete opposite of his last trip where everything was done by 10.30, this week he doesn't do dressage til 3.17 so should be a bit more of a leisurely day!
And baby Paddy is heading out express eventing on Sunday!

It doesn’t rain, it pours…
Took big lad back to vet on Tues, we’d toyed with idea of going to a vet who specialises in soft tissue but decided to go back to original to see what they thought firstly, they are very sure it is the fetlock and they could see improvements, which was great.

We decided to let him have an hour in the field last night and he came in hopping lame (well, not that bad, but not far off it). Gutted. Vet called out and was sure that pain was coming from foot, reactive to hoof testers etc and advised to keep in and approach as tho abscess for next few days, if no better by Monday then they will come out to X-ray & check for injury to pedal bone etc. He seems much more comfortable today so that’s something. I’m obviously very worried about him so please keep everything crossed for a disgusting, pus-filled poultice in the coming days…

On the brighter side, I have a schoolmaster lesson booked then on Sunday, haven’t ridden since mid March and really missing it.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, good luck to those competing!

TPO that looks an impressive bit of stitching, sending get well healing vibes.

Fence judging all weekend for a local UA event, they are very short of volunteers so I can see it being a busy but rather lonely weekend. About to look at the times as a friend is riding so will see just how many have entered but there are 70 to 100 classes and it’s usually well attended. The course looks amazing so for anyone competing at Swalcliffe this weekend good luck.

Polly is off games but I am hoping to chuck Millie in the wagon on Sunday and take her the mile to the shore (horrid main road in the way, or else I’d hack it). She’s a bit cheeky at the moment so I’ll definitely have to have my brave pants on, but think it will do her good to have a change.
