been wondering how u got on at a&e, hopefully no news is good news as they say! keeping fingers crossed for u!

this is what i though, perhaps she is still in hospital. i cant beleive her father didnt take her in straight away being a gp.

When i went into A and E i was waiting a long time, mainly because i needed xrays she may be having that problem.

I'm new on her and don't know anyone but I'm glad she went and hope she's okay. I broke my back in a fall 10 years ago and no one would have known it from just poking at it. It was a very clean and stable fracture but had I not gone to the hospital, it could have shifted and caused a lot of trouble.

It's best to be safe. Hope she's all right.

Hey all

I am amazed and honored you are all so concerned.

So here is what happened. After I left the forum, I was visited by a Doc who agreed with Dad, nothing broken, or if broken it was stable enough to wait until I was on enough anti inflams to get myself to hospital tomo morn. I was not too impressed with this but there was little I could do from an immobile place on my bed, unable to move to go for a wee without help. Anyway a friend rushed over after leaving work to come and see me, she brought lots of chocolates and grapes and we had lots of fun watching a lot of rubbish on my computer, I introduced her to Spartacus blood and sand and we did some sudoku and other puzzles and looked through the horse and hound at the gorgeous neddies for sale. Anyway, time flew by and it was dinner time and my family thought, as I had managed the last loo trip on my own, that I should come a sit in the kitchen for dinner. This lasted about 10 mins in which time I at very little felt v sick and again nearly fainted. My sister was over for dinner and wanted to take me into hospital then but we got me back to bed to ease the pain and I immediately felt better. However over the next hour I slowly ran out of medication to take and my back became agony, particularly the top of my back that had so far just been numbed by the painkillers.

There followed me ringing West Call and the doctor suggesting I go and get it X rayed as it was now the top of my back that was in agony, and this is never a good sign. So at 11 pm I finally convince my parents that A and E is that place to go. Which did not impress my Mum as she was wanting to do it early morning trip once she had had sleep, but on seeing my distress, agreed with me that for my peace of mind it was to be tonight. So my friend left and we got me in the car and into A and E. it took 1.5 hrs to be seen and some prodding of my back which caused a lot of pain, i had to do some tests for the doctor etc etc all at 1 in the morning and I was v tired. He asked at one point wether I was seeing double, which I was but i knew it was to tiredness and the pills. So he gave me loads of painkillers that made me totally high and I went for an x ray which was very painful due to some of the positions the radiographer forced me into. Anyway the good news is all the X rays, and there were a lot of them from every angle under the sun!!!! came back clear! :) I have badly bruised my back which is now in total spasm and I need to move it a little bit to reduce stiffness over the next few days and will probs need to go and see a physio (but I wont I will go and see my osteopath as she knows my back inside out and upside down as she had been working on it for the last 1.5 years) and lots of painkillers and I should be all ok by next week.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! Anyway Mum was not impressed at being kept up til 3. 30 am this morning, I however couldnt of cared less as I was scared and wanted my back properly checked. My Dad is annoyed with me as I didn't listen to his advice and thought he was wrong, and I dont care, as if it was his back I would have taken him to A and E. I wasnt actually too concernd I had cracked a vertebrae as I had had no pins and needles in feet and no loss of feeling, but I thought I had more likely chipped a bit off of one, but I havnt done either.

Lesson learned from this,
A) if in doubt, just call ambulance regardless of parents and their time wasting ideas
B) never ever ride out without my back protector on!!!!

Sorry its so long winded, but I thought it would help ease all your minds. Thank you all sooo much for your support and advice. Greatly received with huge gratitude. Huge boxes on chocolates and flowers for all who get this far (sometimes really wish I could send real chocolates and flowers and times like these) :) :)

Horses eh???? no wonder the rest of the world think were completely nuts! :D :D :D

well im glad you finally went! my friend went back into hospital last night after a fall and has crushed a vertabrae so she wasnt so lucky. stay in bed and take it easy! xx

Glad to hear that nothing's broken Bay Beastie. Look after yourself, and I hope that you get over the pain and discomfort quickly.

And yes, a visit to your Osteo sounds like a very, very good idea!

Oh thank goodness, glad you're ok.

Well done for going anyway, parents or no parents backs are just not something you mess with!!

Glad all is ok! Hope you're a little bit better today, keep taking the painkillers. Word of warning about diclofenac, it made me puke constantly for a day! EAT beforehand LOL!

Take care of you. Whos doing your horse? xxxx

Well the owner of Jim who has her horse at my house/yard will be doing them for today. Felt bad as I always do am and she had to come up before work and do stables and everything. But the fact I have got up this morning to get a drink etc all by myself is a good sign. I am on co codamol every 4 hrs and Ibuprofen after meals as I have an ulcerated stomach and cant take too many serious painkillers, I look diclofenac and diazipan yesterday but cant take them long term unless desperate. The ibuprofen is already making me feel very ill but it works so well I just have to take extra stomach ulcer pills. Oh the joys!!!!

I will let you all know how it goes, I am one of those grim and bear there pain people so will be up and about imminently, and fingers crossed back to work soon, although a few days off, i am not complaining, even if there unpaid.

make sure you eat something before taking the pills to help with you stomach, diclonphenic is strong stuff, i was on it for a couple of weeks for my TMJD. diazipam is amazing stuff isnt it!! :D i took 1 tablet and was still in sooo much pain i still couldnt sleep, i attempted to get up and poor a drink, well that was amusing, p1ssed was an understatment, i couldnt focus on anything and ended up dragging my self back to bed, taking another tablet which knocked me out a gooden!

I recommend you get some voltarol gel - either by prescription, or over the counter. It contains diclofenac, and really helps with my back, neck and shoulders.

Glad you're ok. You were right to insist on getting it checked - you can't take any chances when it's your back.

I fell off and seriously injured my back about 2 years ago - it was no flippin joke!!

Get well soon x
