BLACK Horses

Meet Jazz she is 11 months old and part bred Appaloosa but might still spot out although her colour on her passport is black.

In over 30 years, I have 'done' five true black horses. None of them had any white on them (I'd not heard that one about letting the devil out). They were all absolute b*st*rds; so much so, I will never willingly have anything to do with another black horse!

Now see, there's the great thing about black horses, they always have a cracking shine to them. What a handsome boy.

Brown horses are black on the body but brown around the eyes, muzzle and flank. Maybe on other parts of the body. A black horse, is classed as black, no white or brown at all.

I'd agree with this - always thought Ru was classed as brown because of his light bits:

See now I think Merlin's Quest Janette three's horse and Blackcob are actual Black horses - the rest of us are brown I''m afraid!

Only one of ours is a non fading black (one of the colts may be too), the rest do get brown highlights during the summer but they are genetically black
