Is that a piece of bacon in a bloody Mary?

Like Midlifecrisis I also enjoy your updates ?? what a fantastic adventure your on. Bog looks super happy and your dog is going to love hiking with you. Still can’t get my head around a heated barn - crazy temps ?

Yeah it’s odd! It’s not hot though, it’s set to not go below 6 degrees. Bog still in a 200g stable rug. But obviously much warmer than outside! I do think it may be helping his hocks

Today is 11 degrees and mild!

And because it’s just glorious. Haha. I don’t know but a Bloody Mary on the slopes here seems to include bacon. As do the cinnamon rolls!

A little travel update for anyone interested! I have a family member who lives in Sedona, Az, so I tagged on a trip when I was there already for work (well, in Phoenix).

What.A.Place. The scenery, the hiking, the people. Everyone I met was so friendly and happy. There was a hike up to a point which involved literally climbing on hands and knees, and a fair bit of courage. The comradery and shared "lets do this" attitude from complete strangers was so nice!

I feel way more of an affiliated to Az than Co for some reason. But it would be too hot in the summer and not suitable for Boggle. So for now I'll just enjoy it off the back of work trips!

Of all the places I've travelled in the world I'd say Sedona is more beautiful than anything I've ever seen before. Next trip- Utah for work and I'm going to stay for some skiing!

From holidays to America and my mums Nannying experience when she was younger … Americans put bacon on anything and everything ?

Pancakes/waffles with bacon and maple syrup I can forgive because it’s delicious ?

I recently discovered that fried chicken on a waffle with syrup is a breakfast thing here ?. It was being served, with pride, at a fancy work event!

many years ago i made the mistake thinking the french toast (aka eggy bread) would be a good choice for breaky, it came with icing sugar, maple syrup, a very sweet fruit mush, then next i ordered the same but asked for mushrooms instead of the 3 extras and chilli sauce, this was a bit strange for the rest of the diner

No idea why the USA would be the obesity capital of the world!!

@Michen love, love those photos. We briefly went to Sedona at the end of a road trip in the US 10 years ago and it was the place we wished we'd had longer (although a bit warm for hiking). I thought I'd exhausted my wanderlust in my 30s but then I look at these and think hmmmm.......

Thanks for the heads up! So it's not eggy bread at all!? Just normal bread? I haven't ordered it yet but nearly!

It was a perfect 10 celcius this weekend! Amazing place.

The wanderlust can never be exhausted, surely...

I can't believe how long I've ignored the states for as a travel destination!

I think it is eggy bread (i.e. fried in whisked egg), but they serve it sweet with cinnamon, icing sugar and maple syrup. I've never been to the States but I went to a few American owned cafes in Costa Rica and that's what they were serving. I have a very sweet tooth though, so perfect for me!

I love Sedona too. Phoenix was one of the other places I loved going to in the States (along with Denver, Boston and San Fran, and NYC in a love/hate kind of way!). We used to nip up there a lot, or flagstaff to ski. Sedona has a kind of hippie feel to it too.

The ranches I rode at in Phoenix used to bring their horses down to Phoenix in the winter, and back up to Flagstaff in the summer.

If anyone has any tips on North/South Carolina let me know. I'm in Charlotte for work in March and going to stay for the weekend, I was intending to head to Charleston but any tips on a place to stop along the way would be great!

Yep I loved the hippy feel! It was sort of like Ubud in Bali but better.

The drive between Charlotte and Charleston is ok - there isn't anything along the way that is worth stopping for. Honestly, Id just push onto Charleston which is an awesome city. Bring your appetite and make sure you try Husk, Magnolia, Poogans Porch and FIG!

I finally bit the bullet and has a lesson! Feeling very relieved. The trainer was fantastic, she's an old school hunter jumper trainer but absolutely got the measure of Boggle (he'd been jumped by the assistant trainer, with her, twice before). Tiny jumps just a foot high as I'm super rusty, it's been 4 months ish since I left the ground. She had us doing halt to canter and back transitions beforehand and what a difference that made to the canter quality! I'd never done those transitions before only from walk. Lots of focus on obedience and softness.. I love her phrase "we appreciate the enthusiasm Boggle but..." She absolutely loves him, thinks his self esteem is hilarious.

He felt superb and so happy, he feels more powerful and uphill than ever before but was adjustable and rideable.

I cannot believe that at 11 years old and with a degenerative condition and an old injury he is feeling like this! Touching every piece of wood available that this shall remain. I now feel super motivated to completely drain all the money I have and go buy a truck and trailer :D.

Funny that this popped up on my memories today. Him exactly a year ago. Now he resembles a fluffy, fairly round, very hairy little pony but feels a million bucks ?
