I’m not sure you will appreciate it, and I don’t want to upset you more in any way, but I am being absolutely genuine - I am so very sorry for your loss.

I’ve lost so many greyhounds, they are very very special and I have no doubt Lucy was the same 🥰🥰🥰

Truly I don’t want to upset you more, hopefully you have blocked me if that will happen, but I do understand how you are feeling ❤️

Not blocked you, everyone's entitled to their opinion.
I would never have got Barney my first greyhound if it wasn't for your input on threads many years back 😊

I don't think I can do another though 😭 they are the absolute best breed, but Lucy was absolutely everything I could have asked for in a dog and more 💔

I'm thankful I've got my teeny boys to keep me going

I'm genuinely so very sorry - I have to admit, I could not ever feel the same way with greyhounds after I lost Ace at only 6 years old with bone cancer, he had raced for 5 years solid and just had a few mnnths with me as an adorable difficult reitirement boy. It broke my heart totally. It may not have seemed like it, but I understand a little of what you have experienced and I am so sorry for your loss. :(

So sorry you have had to lose your lovely girl. Friends of mine had had a good many greyhounds now and lost every one so far to bone cancer. I personally couldn't keep doing it.
So glad you had as long as you did after diagnosis, many don't get that time to come to terms with it. Enjoy your boys now and remember the good times with Lucy.

So so sorry you lost your beautiful greyhound. They are a truly delightful breed often misunderstood but once you have known one they steal your heart. She was lucky to have such a caring owner. RIP lovely girl.

I’m so sorry 💕.

Years ago we lost our lurcher (must have been high percentage greyhound, but he was a rescue so we didn’t know his breeding) to bone cancer. He too went on longer than expected and we had to make the call, rather than it being forced. It’s so hard but you’ve made a brave and selfless act for her 💕 she was very lucky to have you.

She was a beautiful girl and you did all you could for her, it’s the worst thing about being a responsible dog owner which you obviously are.. enjoy the little boys and try to remember the good times xx

Seeing the boys missing her is killing me 🙁
I can't have asked for her to go more peacefully, vet only gave a low dose of sedative and she was fully out of it long before the final injections.

Persie (my hedgehog) gave birth shortly after I got home too (haven't been able to check but can hear them, she's very over protective of her babies so I have to leave them well alone) which is strange timing.

This was taken yesterday, Rodney is lost without his big sis 😭 never seen him so quiet and needing reassurance. He's carrying around her toy (duck in photo) everywhere 🙁
I knew Miek would be upset, he keeps jumping on my face and giving me kisses in an effort to cheer me up though bless him.

When the vet gave my lurcher the sedative she moved and didn’t get the full dose but she almost immediately laid down and was right out of it before he shaved her leg for the final bit . It was great for her and couldn’t have gone better but I felt in shock for the next few days as I couldn’t believe she had gone. Her picture is my screensaver on my laptop ,bless her

Can't get the image of her gone out of my head though 🙁 was the same with Pip, don't regret being there, wouldn't want it any other way.

When my whippet went a couple of years back, she didn't really respond to the pre-med. Eventually she led down, but it was in a real awkward fashion.

That odd movement of laying down somehow stuck with me and I had regular nightmares of her doing that same movement while in the bath, slipping to her death under the water.

It traumatised me for weeks.

Being there is so very important, but my gosh it hurts and it's hard not to analyse every tiny detail.

Terrible photo as she's being a fab mum and protecting her babies, two strong babies that are thriving and born on the day we lost Lucy.

Can't check gender until they're out of the nest as mum won't let me near, but bets on one of them being a little girl? 🤔
