I don't know what sale they've been too but they're wrong that horses didn't sell for less than 200 - several small yearling colts did - and the top price wasn't for a Palomino.
Many of the cheap Welshies were said to have been sold to 'Yorkshire', I'm presuming that's the meat man then. Another 'JD' picked up a lot of cheap ones too.I was going to say there was at least a pen full to bursting that went to the meat man and yes some did go under 200
That's the kind of picture EMW should be posting, not pictures of foals who at least had their dams with them to look after them. They eventually opened the gate so they had a bigger pen, there was about 10 in there at least

Can you report the noses and cold donkeys to trading standards or RSPCA McCartney's needs to know that's not acceptable.
It’s been posted by EMW, so I’m sure they will have complained to McCartneys already. The post says they requested hay for the outside ones. Can you report the noses and cold donkeys to trading standards or RSPCA McCartney's needs to know that's not acceptable.
This all reminds me of why I don't go to horse sales. I used to go to Melton Mowbray with a friend. She bought a lovely NF 2yr old filly out of a pen of 8. One other went to a private home, the rest for meat. End of the sale they just opened up the pens and drove them down to the meat lorry, wicked waste. We occasionally went to welsh sales back in the 70's, once at Llandovery and another at I think Rhayader. I was appalled at the way the dealers used to hit the ponies to send them round the ring, one in particular upset me. It was a smart chestnut all poshed up and well handled. Got turned loose in the ring and whacked round just like the unhandled ponies. They treated them just like cattle.
I don't suppose you know what lot 280 went for?He went for 2k. I'd have had him, looked lovely. Hopefully went to a good home.
Or turn up at Llanybydder next weekSo now, prize for whoever spots one on DD first?
I've seen them up with pics taken at the sales in the past (and I have no real issue with this other than poor horse being passed from pillar to post).

Isn't it even sadder that that's the norm for cattle handling? This all reminds me of why I don't go to horse sales. I used to go to Melton Mowbray with a friend.
