I avoided it, I found the Brecon live auction quite upsetting, all the foals from one bloke, all the youngsters.

It saddens me how many in-foal mares are entered for this weekend, particularly those that are in-foal with a foal at foot. Surely the first thing to do when facing a challenging winter is to stop breeding rather than ending up in a situation where stock needs to be sold at its most vulnerable

The problem is , it is easier to sell a brood mare in foal than empty. Did anyone see the mare in poor condition with a 4 month foal at foot being auctioned individually? Thankfully they were bought by the same person, but they shouldn't have been allowed to go through in the first place.

Yes I saw that. It's shameful that they allowed the sale of a 4 month old foal. Of course the original seller is denying it has anything to do with them.

There is a post now on Facebook ‘dodgy dealers’ page about this mare and foal from the person that bought them. Hopefully they get the attention they deserve

A dealer has bought them. I do not know anything about the dealer so cannot say but they have stated that they will be keeping mare & foal until after weaning, and they will then be sold on. They say they will not sell until the mare is less of a hatrack as she is very thin. So probably not a dodgy dealer, but these two were in the hands of another dealer in recent weeks so I think the 'dodgy' aspect of this is being pointed at the previous dealer.
That page is often like a dealers' arguing room so I take most things on there with a huge pinch of salt!

She has operated under several different names so it's difficult when searching for her on dodgy dealer fb pages to get the full story unless you remember her history. She used to do business with some of the very worst characters in the industry and was very vocal in her praise and support of these other businesses. Eventually, she was also screwed over by one of the characters she had been giving glowing references for and appeared shocked at the lack of sympathy she got from his other victims.
In this case, tbf she has made it clear that she has bought this pair as part of her business to sell on and it's up to other people whether they want to send donations to dealers.
