Burghley thread

Caroline’s horse looked so uncomfortable in its mouth.

Such a shame for Laura, lovely round except those planks
He’s always looked awkward SJ, makes no difference if he goes bitless. He would pop himself in or out of the field as a youngster and if turned out in the jump field would happily play over the jumps. He is SJ bred and has all the talent in the world but the atmosphere on the 3rd day can blow his brain a little.

He’s definitely becoming more rideable on the flat and hopefully he can begin to relax more into his SJ and even perhaps listen a wee bit more to his jockey.

The right result. Fascinating that it's such a a similar top 3 to Badminton - just with Oli's mare further down the order.

Pleased to see Alice Casburn in 5th - how cool to get your 4th top 10 result at Burghley consecutively on a homebred.

Also thought Sammy Lissington jumped a great round on Billy Alberto and that must've been the biggest climber from 45th after dressage to 11th! He did look very, very tricky on the flat but what a beautiful jumper.

Mary king competed at the 1995 European championships winning a team gold and individual bronze whilst 5 months pregnant with Emily. She then competed at badminton the following spring!

So it wouldn’t surprise me to see ros out next spring

It’s just a pity they aren’t doing the grand slam of eventing because if she won badminton ✅ burghley ✅ then Kentucky in a row (I think that’s how it worked) then she’d had a big payout.

I don't think we've ever seen as good a 5* horse - the best of all time for me. He's the only horse here that looks like he needs 6* ;)
Totally agree, hes just a perfect storm, not a single weakness and he's met the rider, trainers and regime that suits him perfectly, absolutely extraordinary.

He will. The dressage judges are always a little unkind to him I think. But that can’t continue.

He’ll get one next year. 🤞🤞🤞
And if Ros and Austin had gone to the Euros like you might've expected he could have had a 1-2 today. He deserves to win one but I don't think the judges are unkind - I think the tests are clearly not quite at the low-mid 20s like the best we've seen this weekend are.

Afraid I agree, if anything I think the dressage judges are kind to Harry, his genius lies in xc riding, not dressage, but its improving and I'm sure he'll win a 5* soon.
