We have a CKCS and he is always getting eye infections, they are easy to treat and usually clear up in a few days.
Does anyone else's CKCS have the same thing, he has had them from being a pup with no trigger really
Are they just prone to them?

Tried to attach a pic of him whether it works/has worked am not sure until i post fingers crossed!

Handsome chap!

I don't have a CKCS but i was getting lots of infections in my spaniels eyes.

In the end we gave him a huge course of antibiotics to totally blast it away.

the vet decided the courses they were giving him were just making the symptoms subside and then a week later they would come back because the infection wasn't gone.

He hasn't had one in about 5 years now.

My little cav doesn't get eye infections. In summer, he occasionally gets a grass seed in his eye, which makes it water, but I just flush it out with cooled boiled water with a little salt added and that does the trick.

Your little chap is very handsome - mine is also a Blenheim.

Nope, mum and sister have owned, bred and shown CKCS for the past 32 years and I dont remember any of them having consistent eye infections? And I would say we have had more than the average number over the years

We have taken him to the vets on the first occasion and they gave him chloromphenicol, we use this each time.
Maybe like you mention KatieLou we should get some antibiotics for him, might take him back again this week.
weve had four before him and none of them had this problem strange really but never bothers him and his temprement never changes so not too worried.
If all else fails we get his bubble machine out

Thanks guys

Chloromphenicol are antibiotic eyedrops - I only know this because I wear contact lenses and I used to have to go to the doctors every time I got an eye infection! Luckily they sell it over the counter now

Really i didnt know that i will go and have a look for some more, they just don't seem to be working because the infection keeps re occuring
Although not sure what difference oral antibiotics would make (if any).
Gets frustrating because he must feel rubbish and i feel like i cant help him

What a handsome boy you have..my mum breeds Cavs and I can honestly say not been hit with eye infections at all..BUT I do beleive the breed can be prone to infections as they have such huge eyes...maybe a course of AB will obliterate it once and for all!

Thanks Charliesarmy, lovely thing to say.
It seems to have cleared up now until he gets the next one though!!!
He seems more prone in the winter one lady said that he could have cold in his eye although i have no idea what that means?!
