Quick home cook question as I am not long a meat eater myself & not wishing to experiment on my dog!
We've decided to wean off holistic dry complete feed and tried raw which only agrees with him if its veg...before anyone gets cross with me..there simply are some dogs who's systems just don't do raw meat...I've just bought an amazing selection of different meats which he will have cooked especially for him..same principles as raw diet..varied on different days & aiming to balance over the week not daily..has brown rice/veg grains eggs milk cheese herbs(choses his own!) wholegrain pasta etc etc too basically following natural diet and he's already looking really good on it..my ramble is getting to the point so hang in there!
Amongst my selection crammed into freezer I have:
minced tripe,
minced chicken(oddly looks same as minced beef v red in colour)
minced ox hearts & offal
ox kidneys (not minced)
ox liver(sloppy ectoplasmic mess form)
I love the smell of liver,kidneys and beef mince...chicken boiled in a veg stew etc but am after your best recipes or ways to cook it so I won't have to fumigate the house or gag! I'm not great at touching raw expired masses that used to have fur/feather/scales legs etc and trying to give him variety so....
once defrosted if i cook the minced ox hearts will they smell like minced beef etc of will I be running out of the house never to return...and how do I do the tripe? I've smelt raw unfrozen tripe & wanted to gripfill my nostrils & never inhale again...so guessing it will smell vile cooked on the hob....soooo can I oven cook raw mice and how best to do it..if the ox hearts & ox mince with ox offal aren't too bad I'm happy to do on the stove first...would be very greatful to have some ideas...I'm thinking a stew type if raw in oven?or can I do a mice & veg bake style thing?
Sorry if this sounds a silly thread - I love cooking just am still a bit of a delicate flower with some things and ...I have a hungry polar bear on my hands here who has taken his broccoli & a brussel sprout wand to gnaw while we wait for your lovely recipes!
