CDJ withdrawn from paris

Heath Ryan of 'I rescued poor Nico and had to ask him those tough questions to save him' infamy. Urgh. He was even worse than the rest because he openly tried to justify his use of abuse. Wonder how he explains this one away.
But the Nico excuses were an interesting insight into the thought processes of some professionals - he didn't hide behind this error of judgement nonsense, and now some people who think professionals are somehow magic have a better understanding of how results are often obtained, and what their 'betters' think is acceptable.

Another horse that doesn't know what to do with its legs anymore.

I'm so out of touch with dressage...I totally stopped engaging after the initial CDJ abuse but this just looks awful - wobbly, overbent horse generally but the trot in particular is grim. Legs snapping up then wobbling around a bit before 'landing'. It is a caricature. This horse doesn't, to me, present strength, confidence and harmony. CDJ has maintained her trademark death grip on the horse's head and adds in an extra pull in this clip, I guess for emphasis? Yuk. I guess it's normal at that level now. Poor horses.

It looks uncomfortable and lame at certain points, she even looks round at one point as if trying to find a reason why it feels like it does, because i am 100 per cent certain that is horrible to ride in that state

Just look at the lorries, all the best gear, all the gear , no idea

Surely it woud have been true sportsmanship to just get off and call it a day, say its a bad for the horse, and get some credit that she needs

This is why I keep banging on about training, that what most people consider genuinely abusive is in the same playbook as the normal training. Nothing about it honours the horse, its intrinsic nature, especially as we learn more and more about their brains and bodies. If we don't fundamentally change what is rewarded in the ring, and the training that produces such work, then the abuse will continue, even if people aren't actually beating horses (which they will).

The training IS abuse, just a bit "milder".

Go to British Eventing Facebook page, post by on there makes me want to weep….
I don’t know how to “do” links
It features a female, a grey horse and a feed bucket…

OneHorseLife, often feted as a great example of equestrianism. I've been pilloried when commenting negatively on some of the work they show. They've also been slated for the way they deal with customers.

I’ve just seen that clip.
I can’t even find the words. It’s taken me a good five minutes to write this I am so shocked. What on earth are they trying to train? And what a reaction? And that self-satisfied little laugh to herself afterwards?
I mean what the actual?
There are times when I worry about having got it wrong with my horse but honestly looking at some of the stuff out there I think a) I’m doing ok and my horse is doing ok and b) some people simply shouldn’t have horses let alone promote “training” methods which are really just abuse.

"Short reins win medals". She is into winning, that's it. I suspect Carl does quite like horses and that when she teamed up with him she recognised the immense PR benefits of appearing to like horses too, but I think the truth is that they're nothing more than vehicles to her.

ETA she isn't alone in this. Just today's example.

Collectif pour les chevaux are very good, it's run by a vet.

Sadly, when they went to the stewards, the stewards said that they couldn't see anything wrong.

Either, they aren't formed to see what's wrong or more likely they are frightened ..

It happen with all top riders, in show jumping too.

You would need a lot of courage to go up to the rider and say something... You also need a vet on the spot to make a stronger statement.

Vets aren't aways available and most of the stewards have no autority what so ever.

I'm currently looking into it, i have a lot of free time and if it's possible to train here in Switzerland, i am thinking of becoming a steward.

We have big shows, Geneva, Basel so it might be interesting and usefull.

No one rides focusing on the hind end anymore. Its like everyone is worrying how the sun is hitting the bonnet without thinking what gear they're in
