CDJ withdrawn from paris

She will be back, lots of pro riders don't think she really did anything wrong.
I agree she will be back in time. Her PR team will be working on overdrive but time out of the spotlight will work in her favour.
There will always be whispers and a loss of respect but she’ll return.
I know we shouldn’t compare things but Anky carried on, Edward Gal, the list goes on.

Look at the comments on the British Equestrian post about it, lots of support!

The comments on that thread are utterly depressing (in general).

God I hate 'people'

I don't think she's been used as a scapegoat at all. She (along with Carl) differentiated herself with her usp of doing things differently and centring horse welfare. She made herself very rich on the back of all that. She was the face of Brook charity. This is all her own doing. She's the author of this misfortune.
I didn't say she wasn't and as i clearly stated i was never a fan of her riding anyway. But what she has done is enabled others to carry on and do as they like whilst everyone was so wrapped up in what CDJ has done, or even try and clean up their own very murky images. So in that respect she has been a scapegoat. I bet they were all giving great sighs of relief that the FEI had got a scalp and it wasn't there's!!

not sure that will matter, as soon as she starts banging out 80% scores again sponsors will return, owners will return and the opinion of *ordinary riders* doesn't even register.
I’m not so sure. Ordinary people are a must for the big sponsors who ultimately supported because of her brand. Her brand wasn’t just as a winner but as the face of good sportsmanship in dressage. That brand is tarnished.

What I don’t get is why she’s allowed to come back.

Someone found guilty of child abuse doesn’t go back to working in education, someone found guilty of elder abuse doesn’t go back to a care home. (Ideally, I know people slip through the cracks.)

But she abused an animal and it should be the same level of punishment. Lifetime exclusion from the sport. Off to Tescos for a job.

I guess the difference is she hasn't been found guilty of animal abuse in a court of law, just in violation of fei rules.

She may well be, it wouldn't surprise me if she went abroad. They are far more excepting of certain ways of training and will probably see no bad in any of it. What else does she know? She had such a huge fan base.
I’m sure she will go to America

Which just shows they're all mostly as bad as each other
They are generally mostly disappointing. I never forget reading about a top eventer who lost their stallion to colic. Even though the poor horse must have been in agony they got out the AI guys to take semen from him before they put him to sleep. That truly appalled me. I get that they are a valuable "asset" but would that be your first thought at that point in time and would you prolong the inevitable for that reason? Put me right off them.

Surely the procedure was done afterwards? Please. In hope?

I know of similar done to a dying stallion in vet hospital 😬. The owner was very well known in the equestrian world.

I really cannot stand this whole narrative of “my actions in the video do not reflect who I am” - well who do they bleedin’ reflect then?!

It just makes the apology sound so hollow doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure everything we do and say reflects who we are as people! Her reputation will be forever tarnished and her achievements overshadowed. It will be interesting to see what she does in the future.

We don't need to know how hard it's been for poor ickle Charlotte or about her baby (after sympathy?) Just a statement of 'I accept decision and would again like to say how sorry I am' then crawl back under her rock indefinitely would have been better.

I loathe how much her being a mother has been mentioned to try and garner sympathy, as if that makes her a good/better person than if she was child-free.

It's management speak isn't it. Just mealy mouthed and not engaging with the problem. It was an apology from the wallet, not the heart.
