I saw this one and to be fair for the experience the horse has and the (advertised) temperament, I don't think it's unrealistic. Not passing a flexion test isn't the same as being lame day to day. Lots of vets openly say that they aren't a reliable indicator of soundness.

Anyone would fail a flexion test! The damned things should be banned from vettings. Holding a limb up for an extended period of time at an unnatural angle is bound to make a horse lame for a few strides!

Pony who is RISING THREE has been backed and is advertised for sale as quiet, being ridden by 3 and 6 year old children.
A so called riding school near us (not licensed or BHS approved!) regularly advertises on FB unbacked 3yr olds who they plan to back, then use in the riding school with kids then sell on to unsuspecting parents for 5k plus! Or they sell 3 or 4yr olds who are just backed and because they have kids on them in riding lessons they sell them as ideal kids ponies. They sell them too!

There is a shetland pony breeder up north who chucks tack on a pony, planks a kid on, takes a few pics from different angles and tries to sell them for a fortune as broken and ridden away. Completely dangerous.

I love ads like these 🤣 glad with the honesty

Dolly, all I know is she certainly does NOT live up to her name 🙃

Dolly’s got a raging attitude problem, she’s absolutely furious about being back to work after a few years off and in her mind she thought she was in her retirement.
if you can sit her circus tricks then she gives up and goes on to produce lovely work.

She was s@ld to us as a true kids pony, well all I can say Is I suppose that person didn’t quite like their children too much 🫣

I won’t even bother to sugar coat it, she can be an absolute little f@cker.
On the ground? Butter wouldn’t melt.
On the lead rein? Butter wouldn’t melt, she’s quieter than donkeys I’ve seen on Blackpool beach when there’s a lead rope and someone’s next to her.

I sadly lack time to be on dolly’s airlines everyday, unfortunately for her she hasn’t had much luck getting her own way with me, so does actually go on to be foot perfect after her brat attack.

She is a nappy little sh@te, and lacks confidence when someone isn’t next to her, for am not really sure how she lacks confidence considering she struts around like she’s Regina George.

I’ll be honest, she’s actually half clipped currently. Stood like an absolute rock the whole time then decided that actually she’d stick a challenge into the equation and just be an absolute cow last minute just as I was almost done.

I suppose what I’m trying to say about dolly is she’s a lovely pony, but Elvis Presley’s ‘devil in disguise’ song sums her up pretty well.

Also bred some lovely foals, feel a bit sorry for them actually if they’ve developed an attitude anything like hers.

Shes not very clever, she busts her moves on the spot, would never bolt or bronc.
Just likes to show everyone her belly and how high she can get her back legs up 🤷🏼‍♀️

Now all jokes aside 🤣 she genuinely is a very sweet pony - she’s not as bad as I’ve made her out to be, but want to target the right 🏡 , she lacks a lot of confidence when someone isn’t next to her and it shows in bucking and rearing on the spot, once pushed through after 5 minutes she goes absolutely perfectly off lead.
I’m more than happy to show any vids of her party tricks and equally her lovely work she can produce 💃

She jumps, we’ve hacked her in heavy traffic and with other horses and she was fine.

She’s 13hh (very chunky) 11yo and a trad stepping cob x section c.
Grandsire the diamond cutter

Experienced 🏡 needed. Please do not ask me if she’s suitable for a riding school or children, she needs stripping back to basics but unfortunately we don’t have the time she really needs.
I’d ideally like to keep in contact, as I know she’ll come right with some time and teaching and be absolutely cracking.

FB today…🫣🙄

Part loan to stay at current yard!

She's not ridden as she's a baby!
2 and a half.

Someone experienced who can help teach her boundaries and help with her learning!

Ideally someone over 18 as she is a shire! So very big and strong!!

However would be happy with younger if there was 2 of you and both competent and adults stayed with you.

Small contribution required.
Please message me.

Right….ok then!

It is particularly worrying that the owner says the horse needs to be taught boundaries and is big and strong, but they are happy for a minor to be involved as long as there's two of them plus parents (and they pay). I hope the owner has good insurance 😲

To be fair, if I was horseless and she didn't want money for the privilege I would consider something like this - I have really, really enjoyed doing groundwork with Dex
Depends how much they have managed to ruin her to date though, a shire sized utter monster is different from an uneducated baby

How about this tempting offer?? Ad doesn't mention a financial contribution but I'd bet my backside that she'll be after some money too!

"***** is looking for a sharer. He's 14.2hh and in **** .

I'm a BHS instructor, so where there is not much riding, I will provide stable management lessons to widen your knowledge.

Someone more interested in spending time with him on the ground rather than riding- riding will not be every time, and you will only start riding when I see you are comfortable and committed, starting at just walking. He does not jump anymore- light work only.

***** is a cheeky little character who loves a fuss. Doesnt bite or kick. Will stand all day for a groom. He gives kisses for treats too which is pretty cute 🙈🤣

About you-
- if you want to ride you MUST be under 5ft3 and 8.5 stone. Must be confident with cheeky behaviours- he does leap around and buck- never nasty, just excited.
- have some horse knowledge. Happy for someone to learn but must be confident around horses. He can be a bit spooky handwalking etc
- be able to do at least one weekend day and 1+ afternoon/ evening in the week"

I saw that and at first was kind of interested - potential opportunity for horse-time and learning sounds good to me even if it was totally non-ridden but the tone put me off! Plus I am too tall and heavy.

Yep, the tone it totally off-putting, sort of bossy/teacher-ish/condescending.

So they want an experienced learner who can sit a buck but only wants to walk and who can put up with cheeky behaviour but willing to take stable management lessons while being a fully fledged adult? I can only imagine how flooded her inbox must be!

"For sale rising 3 year old gelding, ride and drive. Pulls 2 and 4 wheelers, bombproof to drive in traffic, nothing fazes him.
A lovely big youngster which should make 15.1/2hh. Also quiet to ride, been driven through busy towns in a 4 wheeler."

I found the best share opportunity!

Three horses! Ideally, you'd be willing to take on all three. One is an unbacked 3-year old, and the other two are teenage horses who have both been off work due to injury and need brought back into work. But you would have an amazing opportunities to learn stable management skills. After all, the kind of person capable of backing and riding away a youngster is definitely likely to be lacking in knowledge of things like mucking out a stable and filling haynets. You need to really love groundwork (no sh*t). Best of all, for taking care of three more or less unrideable or barely-rideable horses who need a lot of training/rehab, you too can pay their owner for the privilege. Financial contribution required.

No doubt once you've broken their youngster/brought her injured back into work/mucked out all winter they'll take them back off your hands in the spring
