I’ve known plenty of little aged ponies do the loan rounds for toddlers

it is quite normal for a tiny tots pony. They other one you may hear is "dead from the neck up" just means a been there, done that, probably edging on retirement pony that wont spook at anything.

horse insurance question please help 🙌

I have just received a quote from the vets for laser sarcoid removal at 1.3k…bank cannot afford… it’s a very angry sarcoid and can imagine its painful and it needs to be gone before the flies arrive.

(I have already tried: banding/supplements/thuja cream) laser is the best option (no liverpool cream as it’s near an artery)

horse isn’t insured currently

if i were to insure say “tonight” can i ring them up tomorrow and file a claim so i can get this sarcoid fixed?

or will i have to wait to file a claim? what’s the process?

horse is a weatherbys passport so insurance is VERY expensive (why i’ve not done it yet)

if you recommend easy going/cheap/reliable insurance please let me know!

I've just seen a video on FB of a very small child (young toddler), strapped into a basket saddle, being led by a rider on another pony. The child is not wearing a hat, apparently because if a hat is put on his head he screams and throws it off. OP states that it's all fine because the child's mother is walking behind and the lead horse 'won't kick'.
And what if the lead horse does kick?
What if the basket saddle slips?
What if the tiny horse slips?
What if something else goes wrong?

Following the tragic news of the teenager who died after a kick to the head, I'm staggered by just how stupid some people can be.

Where are you? I have a lovely 15 yr old non ridden pony (plus a 27 yr old retired 16.2 & a 14hh riding pony). My 15 yr old would love to have someone special to her.

Believe it or not, people turn up to view small ponies without hats for their children too!

I saw that post as well. Didn't bother looking at the video or reading the post. Lots of people seem to think helmets are optional for small children whether that be horse riding, bicycles, scooters or all these new fangled electric kiddy cars, all of which can reach high speeds and cause serious damage if a child comes off.

My mum always made it a condition of riding: no hat, no riding, no horse. I am doing the same for my nephew (who went through a phase of shrieking when a hat was put on his head) and niece.

Perfect for someone who wants to gain more knowledge, doesn't have the opportunity of having their own competition horses but wants to be involved in the sport as well as the sales and schooling that takes place back at home.
This is not a paid position, it's purely a ' I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine'
I already have freelancers who are qualified and experienced but I'm looking for someone who wants to 'work' alongside me, have fun and gain experience at the same time.
In return for your support , I will support you with any practical / theory based knowledge you require and/or lack.
If you can ride , there will be further opportunities to bring on young horses and compete in the ring should you wish. If you're not yet experienced enough to ride the horses here, we are happy to train you if that's something of interest.
The opportunities are endless for the right person but the person I'm looking for must be happy to also muck in with the day to day jobs alongside myself and be driven and motivated as well as having common sense. We can teach the rest!
Our horses want for nothing , you will have the opportunity to meet some wonderful people within the industry and you'd be welcome to be here when we have professionals to visit such as Roy Midwood , physio / farrier / vets / saddle fitters / nutritionists etc giving you even more of an opportunity to learn from different fields within the same field.

We want you to succeed and will encourage you to do so.

I don’t have as much of a problem with this if it was a horse mad teenager that could go on weekends.
If they really did help that person learn and let them ride I think it’s a good deal.
The bit in the week sounds a bit off though.
If it’s just an unpaid dogsbody though that’s unfair.
 
We have tried to gauge interest in both mares going together with zero interest,

Hopefully someone can take the chestnut mare that will have a new friend for her as she is joined at her sisters hip, we would
Of loved both going together but there isn’t any interest unfortunately.

10 years old 16,2 by national hunt sire Flemensfirth.
She is a typical chestnut mare and can put her ears back. She has had one previous foal. No injuries, sound and healthy.

Project to ride under saddle again after a few years of doing nothing or broodmare.

Her sister is available also, we will have her under saddle next week, she will make a nice riding horse.


Transport available

Who would want to buy two bonded mares as riding horses? Sounds like an utter nightmare. Looking at the photos I would particularly want either of them as broodmares either.

In my area this type of position would be advertised as a modern apprenticeship. Young people get £7.55 an hour and are supposed to receive training alongside working, yards still struggle to get someone who can turn up. Freelancers are also difficult to come by unless you're very flexible with times / dates and are close to another customer so I can't imagine round here you'd get someone to work for free.
