It's already Christmas! What are you up to? Anything horsey?

Mine has cellulitis so we'll just be walking, monitoring, and hoping it goes away (being treated by a vet). Might be rather rainy though.

I'm doing long reining, polework, leading over poles, trotting over poles and everything over poles in hand. ZZzzzz.
I will be going the gym everyday and plan to go back to my spin classes which I used to love but have strangely abandoned for swimming.

I was hoping after 3 1/2 months of being away my trailer might have been back before the break as I wanted to do a couple of loading sessions (although he jumped on the lorry when I collected him ok). Just be interesting to see how he loads/travels. He's had lot of journeys in a trailer so shouldn't be an issue.

Hope your horse is better soon CC x

I took the mule up to a new venue for a little jump around a course this morning, she was very good- she has a SJ competition on the 30th and she feels confident and happy to give it a go.
Other than that, just hacking and hoping the roads are a bit quieter

Still nursing...
hoping my awol amazon delivery of manuka dressings will turn up in time for next 2 dressing changes :/
Trying to bust my mum out of hospital :p
all jolly fun as usual!

We had talked about using the quiet roads on xmas morning to lead yearling and her mum round to the big field but OH hasn't done the last bit of fence so can't see that happening now. it would have been nice to cut out a "location with horses I'm responsible for" from the rounds but not meant to be.

Hope those who are out and about enjoy themselves :)

MP didn't want to like your post, hopefully manuka does the trick and you spring your mum from hospital. CC fingers crossed for good recovery from cellulitis, it's such a painful condition!
I'll have a completely horse free Christmas, we're away for a few days so haven't had to brave the shops for festive fare. My broken wrist is healing nicely and I'm able to take the splint off if I'm careful, little finger is still swollen and a bit useless but OH's niece, who will be present on Xmas day, is a hand surgeon so I'll get her to give it the once over as ATM I couldn't hold rein in left hand so it needs to work properly. I am hoping to be back hacking in the new year, fingers crossed (but not little finger)
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas.

I've had really good luck with Manuka stuff.

I actually wonder if it IS cellulitis since horse is clearly fit enough to drop down and roll twice, shake his head at me in sass, and do canter pirouette maneuvers while I watch from afar and tell the little idiot he's supposed to be walking only ? so when we did go for a walk in the forest, he was walking at a brisk pace, for him. Perhaps the Metacam and cold weather has rejuvenated his spirit.

I also think we caught it early enough and it never got so severe that it's been all that painful. It did bother him, since he was a bit lame at first though. Fingers crossed when the meds are done he stays well.

yeah the manuka has been doing a good job so far, it looks terrible when you take the dressing off as old honey looks like minging pus but cleans up really nicely. i just have The Fear about running out of supplies over the bank hols. i suppose he can have intrasite or something as a one off if it doesn't arrive in time.

OH is now raging about the planning decision so it looks like the fencing might get done after all, he is ready to fill the nursery field with pig muck to give the neighbours a christmas to remember.... watch this space, hahahahaha *Mr MP is going to hell*

Hopefully have a little Christmas eve jump tomorrow morning if the weather stays dry
Am I the only one who really enjoys early morning jump sessions? Pony is also a lot more energetic then

If you can't get the honey this is what the vet used on my youngsters wound and i could fit my hand inside that wound at the start and now you can't even see the scar!

oh that's encouraging. Vet had her whole hand down the inside of his fetlock so sound like a similar starting point! I'm due to change the dressing tomorrow so either Mr Amazon will deliver or i will dig out the intrasite, at least that should be sterile.

Nothing horsey for a while, flying out to Germany this morning.
However the follow up has been completely drama filled so just waiting for something else to go wrong.
Was supposed to move my pony to a friends place for the duration, but my trailer has a locked wheel so is a no go.
Thank goodness for my lovely friend who will move her there today. Now if the others could just stay in their field (checked daily) without shenanigans for 3 weeks, that would be great...

Have you seen the before and after pictures of Polly’s scar? That was treated with Manuka honey and it’s barely visible now.

Im planning to hack now for the next few days. I’ve got my annual evening off on Boxing Day (heaven!) too.

We've just moved yards so hopefully a few nice unexciting rides settling him into the new place! No tinsel as his Majesty would be horrified... Might sneak some reindeer antlers on if I'm lucky though :D

Had to cancel my off site sj lesson yesterday. Horse in the next field has a snotty nose. Very unlikely it’s anything nasty but thought it best not to venture off the yard. Bit miffed but can’t be helped. Had a nice hack out with Finn who was feeling perky and then a fab school session with Bertie who went brilliantly. Very grateful to have two good horses.

Xmas stuff to sort today and no riding now until next week. Stay safe all and hope you have fun with your horses, and a happy Xmas ?

I have covid and feeling rough ? so horse is on holidays until the new year.
We did have plans to go to a clinic on Tues with one of the Irish Olympic team from
Tokyo ? and on Thursday I was meant to go to a biomechanics assessment and lesson ? gutted!

Our friend is doing a sterling job of looking after the big lad though, which is one less thing to worry about.

I’m revelling in getting to ride consistently in daylight, whilst actually being able to plan what we do each day beyond ‘try and get xxxx exercised.’

We usually hack Christmas Day, but will check what the weather is doing first this year. It might be a bit grim!

Got an unexpected early Christmas gift from my boss in the form of taking the on call phone for a few hours before my Christmas shift with it starts. So I was able to set up some jumps and have a pop this evening. Mostly working on turns etc to carry on the theme from last weekend but put an over up at the end to play over.

Well somebody brave must have possessed me because as he was finding it all very easy, I ended up putting it up to 1.15/1.20 (when the biggest fences I’ve ever put up for myself for >6yrs are 95cm). And he only went and jumped it like a warmup fence, with about a foot to spare. I bought him with the intention of doing 90-1m classes but apparently he has other plans ? (excuse the grainy screenshot, but deserved a photo of some kind)
