In the ‘70’s briefly met Malcolm McDonald.

When I was a toddler played catch with Hanif Mohammed.

In the ‘70’s I worked in an insurance agents. Dr Feelgood had been to Germany, I think, and during that time had caused some damage.
The band members filled the front office, which quickly emptied of other customers, and tried to convince the owner of the agency to accept their claim for cover. However they had omitted to submit the application before they left. The owner was trying to explain that they weren’t insured. I remember one of the band waving the form and saying something like “ You must be able to sort it out ‘.
I never found out what happened.

My father was headline news in the 70's as the man who broke a massive fraud ring going on across the south coast Naval bases. He was principle witness but he also worked undercover for the police for weeks to gather the evidence to obtain the prosecution. I was very proud of him. He never quite forgave himself for being responsible for the jailing of colleagues and friends.

I feel I may have mentioned this before (because I do, at the drop of a hat), but I spent an hour or so at Sir David Attenborough's house chatting and interviewing him, and eating cup cakes made by his wife. This was in the mid 90s when I was doing my B.Ed Hons, and I did my entire dissertation about him and his work just so that I could try to meet him.

I had brief conversation with Jon Stewart when myself and some friends went to a taping of the Daily Show.

This is tenuous, but I will try it. My ex husband's sister is married to a guy who has adult children from a previous relationship. His daughter is married to the brother of Sam Heughan, of Outlander fame. Like I said, tenuous!

I was a volunteer at Manchester when they hosted the Commonwealth games. I had to drive to the hotel where Mark Todd was staying as he had forgotten to pack a tie! I gave the tie to one of the hotel staff so never saw him! Very tenuous link!

I snogged one of the Winwood boys (Spencer Davis) at a house party but can't remember which one. My sister was at school with Chrissie McVie (Perfect), same year, my sis was head girl but she can't really remember her. We obviously both have rotten memories. I walked the course at Gatcombe with the Princess Royal, until one of her guys pointed out that I wasn't welcome. I just followed a bunch of people under a rope and had no idea I wasn't supposed to! Following my divorce I nearly bought Astro's (UB40) house in Moseley, B'ham, a tennis friend was living with Ali Campbell and suggested it might suit me. I didn't but I did get a good look round it.

Urm, ignoring the horse riders, of which I have plenty of celebrity encounters then …

I was on Jim’ll Fix It ??

I rode for the clothes designer Jeff Banks

I used to do some stud cover and got made tea by actor Simon Williams most weekends

I received a grooms prize from HRH Princess Anne

I was awarded my A level certificates by Teresa May

At the Sydney Olympics I flew out on the same plane as a lot of the athletes, and had seats just in front of all the British team in the athletics stadium

Sure there must be more!

at badminton with my friend and as we passed princess annes horse box her toddler raced up the ramp and I just managed to grab him before he got to the top. She was quite amused and said good catch,,

told to get out of the way by Prince Philip as he was driving his 4 horses ,I did as I was told pretty quickly because he wasn’t stopping for anyone

I forgot, i met Jethro at the New Forest show, my battered, geriatric, lorry was parked next to his posh one, (his grooms were lovely and helpful) the next day when he arrived he commented in his 'Jethro voice' so everyone heard 'that it was a woman's job to make tea' as he saw my OH huddled over a gas hob, it was in jest but i soon put him right about womans' work, we had banter.

Are you referring to Jethro the comedian?

Your post reminded me of a funny gift exchange of a ‘jethro comedian dvd’ given to a relative who loved ’jethro tull’ the music band. Upon opening said gift, “who’s this jethro bloke?”….confused reply “its jethro, you said you loved him!” Laughter ensued, for quite some time ?

Coincidentally, i met mr Anderson, front man of jethro tull after a gig in 2006, and managed to give him an appreciative smooch turning him beetroot red…even got the pic…my smile is huge ?
(hearing his flute playing yrs back inspired my own flute journey, so i was a genuine fan…unlike my Take That kissing confession!)

I keep remembering more of these. One of the Cranberries gave me 20 pounds (punts) on my communion day. My aunt is married to their cousin and my cousin/her son had his confirmation on the same day so I think we all ended up together in the evening.

That's not major though, you're not from Limerick til you've met a Cranberry.

Tommy Boyd (WAC) came to my 9th birthday party. Met a number of TV presenters and people as my dad worked at TV studios. Chatted to "Tiny" Clapham at SRC. Used to watch Harry and Dan jumping when younger with Nick chalking up the numbers of the competitors on the board. Met the drummer of Ocean Colour scene, sadly at a funeral. The Queen walked within feet of us at Newbury Racecourse. Had a lovely conversation with Alan Titchmarsh about NF ponies at the NF show.

I was in the same year at school as Ann Wilson, Olympian 1968.
We were both taught by games teacher Mary Green, also 1968 Olympian.

and a tenous one
My Dad, transport manager, used to have West Ham players working in the stores / loading in the times when players were laid off in the summer. One was Bobby Moore.

As a kid I kept my pony behind Peter Gabriel's house for years. I used to see and speak to him regularly. he is a lovely chap

Once I fell in the mud and the lady at his house told me to go and have a warm bath while I was waiting for my mum to pick me up, I was so impressed that he was rich enough to afford Body Shop stuff in litre bottles

Later on when I met my boyfriend (now husband) he had a long discussion with PG on the subject of petrol v electric strimmers without even realising who he was![/I am jealous of this oneQUOTE]

I gave Tiny Clapham a lead after her horse planted and point blank refused to go past my house. Got them going again. I got chatted up by David Broome at RWHS a hundred years ago (before he was married) I met Princess Anne at the same show when she looked at a horse my employers had for sale. Tony Blackburn bought me a cheese sandwich when I was about 12. He was coming up to London after stint on R Caroline or London (can't recall which now) Met Virginia Wade at Wimbledon one year when she was still playing.

Told Patrick Stewart that I’d missed his talk due to viewing a house. We then proceeded to have a discussion about said house and it’s pro’s and cons.

I was in London working for magazines and photographers in the 60's so met all the famous models, lots of actors and pop singers etc, went out with Tony Blackburn (only once i must add but forever on he would say hello if we met around Knightsbridge. My ex husband had a few drinking bouts with Lou Reed in the early 70's, he used to come back to our flat. We used to visit Marc Bolan (so sad) his wife /girl friend Gloria had a little boy same time as my son was born. when I was in hospital having a blood transfusion the girl in the bed next to me was the P.A. for the Stones, that produced free tickets! We also used to sell rare books to them, they had some diverse interests. (cricket to John Donne).
Ratface, I wonder if you knew a girl who worked in the Kings road shop, she was called Mary Roche, she used to get us one off samples. Loved Mary Quant.
One of my riding friends married John Burton Race which caused a bit of a stir at the time.
For car enthusiasts, my long term partner is an author and wrote a very in depth bio of Carroll Shelby (shelby mustangs etc)

Oh wait I have another one, less exciting than hoofing Peter Kay in the nuts though.

Some of my closest friends are in the tv show Emily In Paris. And the casting team has been pestering one of my other closest friends to appear, and he is VEHEMENTLY against it which is hilarious.
