Cleveland Bays

not strictly speaking mine (she is oh!), but I adore her and she is stunning so very happy to oblige the pic request! She is actually cbxtb but is very typical of the breed - more of a chapman type.
Tbh I don't think they are that exp, a pure breed, well put together, mannered young horse could cost you less than 4k - that is really good esp when compared to most breeds!
(apologies if it turns out too big, still getting to grips with putting pics in!)

I think she would love it, she does enjoy being watched and getting to show off! Prob is it rather goes to her head so all you can get out of her is a giraffe or a really fab passage. Looks smashing, but not really required or desirable if showing! She also has a slight capped hock which would drop her down. She is the most gorgeous mare to us, so we would prob be rather sore loosers in showing! Show jumping is her game and she just loves it!

Good Grief Glosgirl she looks so like my boy when he was younger

Here he is when we were both happy bunnies this is 5 years ago.

He is retird now and I have given him to the girl who has him as a companion

Can you post pictures of your Cleveland Bays. I think they are growing on me, they seem quite pricey though!:)

I paid £2,300-£4,500 for my lot. I think they were very reasonably priced. I have a filly for sale for a very reasonable price but only to a home I know something about.

Ive become to like the breed a lot & I'm struggling to find something in my budget. The one I have found that I like has a sarcoid & is a little green but very quite & his owners are asking £3500 for him. I quite like this mare but I'd rather a gelding, so if anyone knows of any point me in the right direction please.

I liked the look of that mare about 6 months ago but decided against it, the ad I saw was a bit more detailed, or I might of been given the extra info via email, anyway, she was broken to ride aged 3 or 4 but never ridden on, she's in foal now so by the time its ready to be weaned she'd need completely re-breaking IMO. Very nice looking mare tho :)

I have only purchased one CB already backed. People who have them broken to ride don't tend to part with them.

However, I had had no experience with young horses and so worked with trainers and under their supervision - they have all been very easy and well behaved and that includes my stallion. I had never owned a stallion before and was very nervous but he has been lovely.

I would recommend buying a three year old and bringing them along the way you want.

I rang them about 3 weeks ago about this mare & they couldn't really answer any of my questions about her. So haven't gone to see her. I'd like to know more about her temperment etc, but owners just said dont know because haven't done anything with her. Maybe i'm expecting to much but would be nice to know basic info like has she ever been shod? what she like with vehicles? Etc, etc.

She was by Harrington Mr Magician out of Knaresborough Dear Me for all you aficianados. She came from Laughton Stud and strangely I bumped into her ex-groom recently from the stud (small world). If anyone knows what hapened toLAughton Stud would love to know.

What a lovely kind face.

Irishlife I love your mare. Ask what happened to Laughton Stud on the Southern CB club website forum. Someone will know.

Okay Zoe just for you! We were not attempting to jump anything, he decided to jump tiny pools of water!!

Love that pic, what a beautiful boy he is! Ours is rather funny about getting her feet wet too! I think she rather expects a hansome stranger to put his coat over the puddle to save her precious toes!!

Wonderful pics SSM.

Getting feet wet? My first horse now 31 years young got me started, I think he is a part-bred (read all about it in Horse Breeders magazine on line). The first time I hacked him (before I bought him), he knee capped me on a tree trying to avoid a puddle about 1" deep.

We can do ears too!! This is Merindah hers are quite kissable.
