Fais pas chier!
On Sunday, Jake, my Springer, was very wobbly on his back legs. I could see something was wrong through his back so took him to the Vet as soon as I could on Monday morning. We were referred immediately to the RVC to see a neurologist. The neurologist was convinced it was a slipped disc and said 80% of cases are easily cured. I left him there for an MRI.
2 hours later, the neurologist phoned to say not good news, there are 3 tumours on his spine and one in his abdomen. The tumours on his spine were causing the back legs to lose all control. He said we could try steroids and that might give him a few more weeks to live. We very quickly decided not to put him through cage rest and pain again after 2 cruciate repairs and phoned our usual vet yesterday to come and PTS our little lad this morning. I'm so shocked as one minute he was fine, the next, he's been given a death sentence.
It was peaceful, his brother sniffed him after his heart stopped and the vet took him away for us. I didn't want him being maggot food in the garden. He was 7 and the best dog ever.
