Crufts 2025

It was lovely to meet you @BallyRoanBaubles your dog is SO handsome - so sorry it was brief, me and Erik had to run back to the breed ring for our showing to start.

Fab to see @druid & co again, they all did so well, I’m sure she’ll update once she’s recovered 😁

Today should be much more relaxed as we’re just in the German Longhaired Pointer Discover Dogs pen, yesterday we were between that and two different showing rings 😂

Yesterday Erik made the shortlist in a class of 19 BASC AV Pointer, Setter & HPR working dogs but no placing- he got a bit fidgety towards the end, we’re not used to being in the ring for that long!

He won his Post Graduate Dog class (he was the only entry 😁😂🙄) we then went into the dog challenge, expecting nothing but to my total surprise he took Reserve Best Dog! Gobsmacked!

Our all GLP shoot team had a LOT of fun in the BASC Working Dog Team Class, my team mates are reluctant show’ers’ and so had to be plied with bubbles 😁 no placing- we weren’t the most professional 😂 but it was great PR for the breed as we had SO many people asking about the dogs and fussing them as we went round.

We’re heading back in this morning, hopefully it’ll be quiet enough to get a photo at the crufts sign with Erik’s winnings, dragging my husband through the crowds yesterday afternoon may have ended in divorce and I’d run out of bubbles to bribe him with 😁

Sounds like you’re having a fab time - I nearly tracked you down on Friday and a couple of nice ladies on the RC stand knew you and Erik, but wrong place wrong time!

When our older heeler was height dog in a flyball team they used one of the smaller kong balls for him . They don’t have the small dogs at crufts though .
Ginny has the small ones as well, still think it's a shame they don't show 'normal' flyball. I'm waiting for the day there's a serious injury on the green carpet. There was a dog who smashed its leg at a qualifier last year 😔

I was at man trailing yesterday and there was a physiotherapist there. She was talking about 2 dogs crashing into each other on the tv footage which she said made her feel sick, though people seemed to find it amusing.

At that speed they all have ball holding issues 🙄 they discourage the dogs liking a ball so you see lots of spitters.
Its not just the ball "holding" issue with Whippets, they don't have the urge to pick back up if they drop the ball either so will keep running, while if you notice the collie types will stop/turn/attempt to retrieve the ball if they drop it.

Bit of a late update from us as there has been rather a lot going on at home..!

We had a great day on Thursday with the Manchester Terrier - she was 2nd in a quite good limit class, but most importantly she behaved 🤣 she’s only been on a table probably 5 times since last Crufts and was dreadful at last ringcraft, however stood like a rock for the judge on Thursday. He was a really lovely judge which helped!

Not winning this year also meant I actually got to see some of the show! The kids spent hours in discover dogs and got covered in stickers and badges.

Lovely to see everyone’s successes on this thread!

The dogs did well! Everyone placed in all their classes.

I should have let Elliebeast take Myrka in...he shows better for her!!

Our day was marred by an ineligible dog winning both field trial classes...and the owner stated she knew the dog didn't have the required award to be in the classes so just blatant cheating.

Fabulous results, well done. Has the cheat been reported to the KC , she will hopefully be disqualified, but knowing KC it will take a while.

I don't know which dog I want to win Best In Show - there are already 3 group winners that I own or have previously owned.

I have owned 3 Mini Schnauzers and a Jack Russell (she looked nothing like the one at Crufts). I currently own Lola who is a Whippet ❤️

It just needs a Pembroke Welsh Corgi to win the Pastoral Group to make it another group winning breed I've owned

For obvious reasons, me and my OH were cringing at the dogs smacking into the board during the flyball. There must surely be lots of injuries and it can’t be a long career for the dogs?

If I ever do decide to get a spaniel I would like one that looks like yours 🤩 lovely to meet you and well done!

TBF quite a few of the ages they've quoted the last few days have been 10+, not sure what the track is they are running on instead of the carpet, rubber?, it has seemed to be a bit of an issue that when they are then stopping at the end of the run the carpet slide is long.

Well done!! Beautiful dogs.

There’s a fabulous piece on Hustle one of the first whippets in flyball . It’s on channel 4 catch up, the 2pm programme , about 45 mins in.
Im still catching up but yesterday it was totally her who got them the win, they were v much level pegging until 4th dog then she's like 3 lengths ahead 🤣
