OP were you able to report yet? I am just wondering, as news headline this week here in Australia, featured a dog attack so bad the dog [her own dog] severed the owner's arm off. Police kept the arm on ice. Owner critical in hospital, dog, a pitbull, pts. The dog had bitten a neighbour on the arm the week before.
That was in Townsville, and there was another major dog attack in Melbourne in the same week. Only mention it as both dogs had recent 'form' and were known to the local council, with reports made, but nothing had yet been done.

Were you able to speak to someone when you rang 101 or did you report the incident online? What was the outcome?
Have you heard how the person is who was attacked?

This implies that a adult attending A&E with a dog bite injury would not be reported to the police.

I did find out that a dog bite injury wouldn’t be reported to the police and that the owner didn’t want them involved or anything to happen to his dog which I haven’t seen since.

No it wouldn't unless they want help reporting it. Statutory reporting only covers stabbings and shootings

When a friend was at A&E for a dog bite that required IV antibiotics, they were constantly asking her what breed of dog it was.
They would not accept her answer and kept coming back with photos of pitbulls saying are you sure it wasn't one of these.
Erm..... no, it was definitely a Labrador (incidentally one that was frequently seen being walked by children around the local roads, although on the occasion of the bite it was loose in the country park carpark with an adult in charge.
Police visited the owners who acknowledged that the incident had taken place. They were told on lead and muzzled in future which they never did. It was regularly seen being led unmuzzled by the kids afterwards. Nothing was done. This was a few years ago now. I witnessed the bite. It barged past me and my stafford to go for my friends whippet and when she put the whippet behind her it went for her 3 times, calf, upper thigh and on the arm. It was horrendous.
