If the mare jumped into the stallions paddock, it's not unthinkable that the stallion can jump out if so inclined, which it sounds like it might be. So please warn everyone locally and be double aware at the yard just in case.
I second Elf, yes you may not get anywhere if they are travellers in terms of compensation, but if I am tarring all with the same brush, they may really not want the police knocking around in their business for other reasons, so it will be worth doing just just to make a point. They also can still be prosecuted criminally (and I think they should be, for being in charge of dangerous out of control animals, much like with a dog but I don't know how the law works in that regard).
I am so sorry this happened, and wish your friend a speedy recovery. Very scary

Yep that's another worry, mares field is one over. So she's jumped two fences (reasonable sized fences too!) which is just mind boggling. How many horses would do that, Arabs are very loyal though

That is absolutely shocking, if you weren't a regular poster I'm not sure I would have believed the story, especially about the mare jumping fences to come and save her. That is an absolutely incredible thing for a horse to do, is there any update on the mare? Is she ok?

Your poor friend, is there any chance that she has got any insurance that can help with costs or anything? I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

No doubt that a horse that can attack like that should be pts, incredibly, incredibly dangerous and something must have happened or be wrong for it to be like that, I'd be surprised if it was a happy, healthy horse.

I know I don't quite believe it myself, but knowing Sats, it doesn't surprise me that she did it ( fiercely protective of mum)

If a dog had done that to a person the police would either remove it to police kennels pending assessment or shoot it.
This should be no different. The police should arrange to remove the stallion and have it pts.

Those injuries are horrific. I do hope that there is better news today on your friend.

Oh my GOD, that is absolutely horrific! The heroism of your friend’s little mare has brought a tear to my eye.

Wishing your friend and her mare a full and speedy recovery. I’m another who would be happy to chip in to help towards any costs. I’m beyond appalled that this could happen and hope it’s dealt with very quickly so nobody else can go through this awful experience. If that stallion is allowed to doit again, the next person might not be lucky enough to escape 😰

Mare is tough as nails thankfully, proper little Egyptian Arab. She will be fine but might have a few scars to add to the collection 🤦🏼‍♀️

Travellers shouldn't be able to get away with it just because they are travellers. People shouldn't just back down and do nothing because they are travellers. No she probably won't see a penny of compensation out of them but she can sure as hell make life difficult for them in the mean time! They aren't above and beyond the law.

Her son and partner are looking into legal routes so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Thanks. Donated

Thanks RT ❤️ and everyone who's donated so far I'm a bit teary 😢

Have asked Endurance GB to share too as she's on both the area and national team regularly so let's hope we can ease the pressure on her.

Had some offers for people to take horses temporarily. But hers aren't the easiest so will have to play it by ear when she's a bit more with it and able to make decisions.

Horrific.
I hope Tracey and her horse make a full recovery. A lovely picture on the GoFundMe page - what a fantastic horse. Small donation made.

That's the Sats 🙂 you can see how teeny and petite she is there 😳 Tracey is tiny too there's nothing of her.

Just heard she's having some bad flashbacks 😢 I'm still testing positive for Covid so can't even go keep her company ☹️

I hope the police are involved, and get to the owners asap.

As news is starting to spread, I'm sure it will be dealt with. Her sons a police officer so he will do what he can too 🤞🏻

Just trying to focus on the practical aspects now, I'm going to go pick up her stud dog (my pups dad) as he doesn't like men so is being a pain for her son to deal with currently and hopefully that'll reduce the stress on him a bit, rest of the dogs are ok with him

What a phenomenal mare!

I really hope your friend is or will be seeing someone for the flashbacks and mental trauma as well as those awful, awful injuries. I hope they've found a way to sort the shattered wrist so she has reasonable hand function on recovery.

I absolutely agree with pursuing them with all legal options and that the stallion should be pts. He might do even worse now he's done it once. Like others have said, if the owners are renting or owning land, they will be more permanent.

I'd also make sure it hit the press as a means of, at the very least, making more people aware of the danger.
