...who felt it necessary to be rather rude about my riding of K.

First of all, we were FIVE MINUTES over our time because the gentleman who had been in before us over ran. Not our fault. I paid for my half hour slot, I am going to use my FULL half hour slot.

Secondly, it was my first time jumping K pony around a set of show jumps. Up until now, we have done flat schooling, dressage and working on that and getting it up to scratch. We've done the odd little jump at home, and two XC sessions. K is an ex show jumper who is a mean machine when pointed at a fence. She is 18, and hasn't jump a course of show jumps for well over a year. I haven't jumped SJ for over a year either, so we were both a little rusty this evening.

I am well aware I'm not a brilliant rider, nor am I the most confident either. Yes, I find the horse strong at times, but I can in fact get her back under control. Yes she goes quick, but the more you tug, the faster she will go.

"If she is going at that speed I bet she'd come off if she stopped"
Well actually, she did stop. Twice. And actually, I did stay on, even when hanging half way off the horse with my head headed towards a jump wing with one of them. Avoided said wing, stayed on, and got the horse under control, and over the fence second time round. And I have the video proof of it, if said lady reads this and would like to see.

So, woman who was slagging me off to the other people she was with, while the lady I was riding with was in hearing distance, I would just LOVE to see you get on K and have a go at jumping her round a course of jumps. Go on, I dare you, she's not as easy as she may supposedly look. It is very easy to stand and criticise others, but when you have seen the horse for all of five minutes, I barely think that is enough to judge a partnership.

And yes, if I had heard what you had said when I was riding, I would have said what I said above to your face!!! And probably a bit more.

If I'd have wanted your opinion love, I'd have kicked your sodding kennel.

If the lady who it was is in fact a forum user, then please PM me, I'd like to discuss your thoughts and where you feel your two-pence worth could fit into our training.

Rant over.

Now that's out of the system, I feel MUCH better. :D :D :D :D :D

Too right. Think sometimes people should just get on with what they are doing, instead of criticising other's but the fact there wasting energy and time, just mean's they have no life! Yet is a shame people can be like this, a BIG shame, as no one really deserves it, only the ones who give rubbish out!

Ha ha love it! Nothing worse than a high opinionated, clueless snob!!! And yeah the "if I'd wanted your opinion I'd have kicked your kennel" is definetly a verse to remember. Good for you, I hope she's on here and you give her what for!!

Oh dear :D :D

Can I take it you dont do showing then, you would have become immune to these idiots long ago.

Just about every show I would stand at the ring side and hear people pull our pony, my daughter and her riding to bits. They do it to everyone

Just jealous, the woman obviously wants your pony :D

The real pleasure comes from beating them though

That's right and Bsja best one we did was have a pony that wasn't brilliant looking and people had plenty to say about him, but what they forgot was he didn't have to look good to jump well!

Ignore them.

The horsey world is full of these kind of people also the hunting world !! they have nothing better to do I keep well away from people these days just me and my horse and little terriers. I bet you she wouldn't have been able to ride one side of your pony if she got on ."Go Kick Kennel"

LOL that's to true Rockysmum.

RiderLizzie you have my every sympathy. I used to get this all the time with Lucy. Even my instructor used to have a go at me till one day I said "you get on her then" Threw the reins at her, stood back and laughed. My instructor sat (and I mean sat :p ) on her for 2 minuets, got off and said "I realy don't know how you get her going as well as you do" She suddenly had a new respect for me and my pony but funnily enough she never offered to ride her again ;) :p :D
I wish I could have done that to afew more people over the years and i'm shore when I take the horrid one out in public I'll go through it all again
But hayho I love my pony to bits and thats all that matters. Who cares what others think esp if they don't have the balls to say it to your face.
I'm so glad you had a lovely time with your horse. :D

If you didn't hear it at the time how did you hear it?

If it was second or third hand, honestly laugh about it a walk away. IMHO anything heard passed on tends to be what the teller wants you to hear in the context they want it heard. :)

I won't be around people that criticise other peoples riding...I cant bare to hear it......

I have brought my daughter up to understand that everyone who goes into the ring has got guts...its not easy knowing people are watching and I admire them for going in....

AND.....all the best riders are usually found on the ground...meaning we can all pass an opinion watching but actually being the rider is totally different...so best to say nothing at all in my middle-aged opinion!!

Until very recently, I very much shared your view of the "snobs" at Solihull RC having also been on the receiving end of some "experts" comments! Like you said, my attitude was you get on and have a go! However the last couple of times I have been there, everyone has been very nice and supportive and I am beginning to change my view of the place so I hope this one hasn't put you off going because its a great place to go and practice!

RiderLizzie, am I sensing a little.........displeasure? I think I do, I can normally tell when someone is a bit cross - I'm right aren't I?:D

Oh, just a little. A soak in the bath this morning has chilled me out now though. I hope she is there again tonight to watch me do my dressage, I would LOVE to have some tips from her. :D :D

Nope, I don't show, couldn't be doing with the favouritism I have heard so much of. :o

I heard it from the lady at the yard who I was with. She is a very very good family friend and is not the kind to manipulate a comment. She was equally as cross, and having ridden K she knows what the madam can be like. She also turned round to them and said that it was my first time jumping her properly, to which I think they silenced a little.

I haven't been to SRC since last summer.
Gill Rose told me to go away and learn how to ride! I had only been riding K for 1 month, didn't really know her, and she was a naughty little bag in our first ever dressage. Leslie Burton on the other hand was lovely and said I rode very well considering. I'm now back there tonight for dressage, will be interesting to see what the judges say :)
Hasn't put me off at all, only makes me more determined!! :D

People huh.

These sort of people make me froth at the mouth...If only I could get my grubby mitts on them!

It's funny, they always seem to be on the ground rather than on the horse :D

I get to overhear lots of bitchiness, because I look nothing like my sister (she's tall, elegant and looks ever so grown up- I'm short, dumpy and people always think I'm the younger sister!). It's amazing how we've bought (?) this ready made horse (?) for silly money (?). Or how much pressure mum puts Al under. Or how mum just doesn't care about us and just wants our glory... Etc. It makes me grin as I watch my sister go round on the ex-racer she reschooled from scratch, who is on loan to us as my mum stands at the side silently crapping herself and celebrating every tiny achievement and encouraging us every step of the way...

People like that need a good hard poke with a pointy stick and telling to not say anything if it's not going to sound nice... "Did you mean that to sound as rude as it did?" is a lovely line to trot out :D

Hahaaaaa that is super!!!! I will so have to work up the guts of that one ever becomes of use!! :D

Love listening to people slatting people on the sidelines, always makes me smile! Generally a sign of their own insecurities!
I had a little brat once be rude about my pony, telling me howit was my fault he was naughty, cue hand over the reins and laugh as she fell off!

If I'd have wanted your opinion love, I'd have kicked your sodding kennel.

That is so going in my repertoire for future shows!!!

Now going to clean hot chocolate off keyboard :) :) :)
