decrease in comp reports

2. My reports would be quite dull as they would all go like this: Arrived at event. Realised had forgotten [insert vital bit of equipment]. Did useless [DR/XC/SJ/first round/JO/fell off in the water]. But was pleased as did a good [fishes about for a positive]. Conclusion is that horse is fab but needs a new rider.

We have the same report structure! #insert forgot passport, dressage, good jumping!!

I love hearing about Juno's Zed and his progress from ugly duckling to swan,
Now that seriously surprised me.
I used to do reports every time I competed. Last time I posted anything about Zed I'd spent ages putting together and uploading vids of training session with GH and results of first session with matt lanni.
My comp reports / updates have never got many responses and I assumed people where not generally interested in what we were doing so stopped. Didn't get upset about it but didn't seem worth the effort for what seemed like so little interest.
On the flip side I read just about every comp report but rarely reply (my bad) and would hate for them to disappear.

Funny old world ain't it.

Thank you to the people who said why they post a comp report (eg, helps to relive/clarify the day) because it made me think about why I post reports. They're not about me (so I don't get personal criticism) so why do I bother? Um.... I think because I feel I kind of owe all of you who were so incredibly supportive when Rosie crashed but also because I do enjoy writing them and reading any replies they get.

Plus of course - I'm simply bragging about my lovely GD and my lovely baby horse ;)

As another lurker I agree with most of what's been written already.

I really enjoy reading the majority of threads in CR but as I have nothing of interest to contribute. I've never competed affiliated, haven't even really ridden since a sold a horse last year and then I lost one of my remaining mares last November and then my "one in a million" on Tuesday so not going to have anything of interest to contribute for the foreseeable. However if posters are saying they do appreciate replies even if it is just a "well done" then I'm more than happy to start acknowledging the posts I've read and the effort the OP has put into them.

I also agree that CR can appear a bit clique but that's never affected my enjoyment of reading the reports. I guess like some others have said once you've made friends through HHO it's easier just to chat/pm/FB them that bare your soul by posting.

I've been very lucky that I've met some lovely people through HHO and made some real friends. I kept my horses on my own and don't have any horsey friends in my local area so it's been good meeting new friends to text, chat and meet up with. They've been a god send this week and I've had daily check ups from one gem of a HHOer who I'd never have met without HHO.

On the other had I have at least 4 stalkers!! I know, me who posts nothing of interest at all. Crazy right? They are people who I know in RL; some I'm no longer friends with but appear to want to keep tabs on me and others I've just drifted apart from but they seem to prefer to "stalk" my posts than get in contact for some bizarre reason. I've had nothing to post so it hasn't concerned me greatly but when replying to a thread previously today about lameness I did hesitate as I didn't them knowing about my loss and starting malicious rumours. Normally it would be water off a duck's back but this has hit me really hard. Then I thought if that's how low they'd want to stoop then it wouldn't matter if I posted or not they'd find out and do what they want regardless. Like Chloe GHE said if people want to find out about you it's pretty easy done in this day and age. That's why I deleted FB; not so much because of what I wrote but there were some things people posted I could have lived without knowing!! It is annoying when people post FB links to pics or say to keep in touch on FB as I don't have it now. So my point is I can see how scary it is to put yourself "out there" by posting pics/vids and making yourself an easy target for the not so nice people.

It's really sad that so many "voices of experience and good sense" have left but even a lurker like I can appreciate why. Hopefully things might calm down and they'll feel like posting advice if not reports again in the future. It now only seems to be the same handful of topics that are "debated" and it's getting very tired and boring now. If it wasn't for the effort peeps put into their reports CR would be very dull!

As usual my fingers have ran away with me...

P.S. Does anyone have a contact email for MadHector? I was a FB friend and been in email contact previously as she drew two portraits for me and I would love another but lost her email address. Thanks

I always used to put my BS comp reports on here but my Grade A is for sale so no point taking him out jumping really. My 4yo has just been started and will be out jumping British Novice soon so I'll start them again.

I didn't have any of my horses out this week but my riders did very at the Royal Norfolk Show yesterday winning the 1.20 open and the Newcomer class . . . so that was lovely :-)

No idea why others are not posting but I like reading them too.

wowzers what a monster...no chance of this being lost ;)

i think there has been a lot of change in the people coming on here- which is a shame in some ways as some really nice people seem to have gone, but in the same breath there are some lovely new people too :)

i tend to do reports to help me reflect on my day...my OH has zero interest as have my parents and work mates so i have to tell someone  its frustrating when you don't get replies but i hoenstly think thats because the forum loses them  If i see posts with no replies i try to reply to them if i can - especially if its a comp report which has clearly taken lots of time.

what i find quite freaky (and sad ;) ) is the lurkers who know you in RL and blatantly come on here and search for all the posts you have made and read them all but never ever comment... i can understand people who just lurk generally but i would always post on people i actually know in RL's posts!!! but i do find the same thing happens on facebook- and at the yard- you get the people who want to know the ins and outs when its going tits up but don't even want to say well done when you have won/been placed/ survived without falling off. it really worries me that people live in a world where they are constantly wanting people to do badly. sorry, totally OT but its something thats been winding me up for a while
