It's hard to tell in the photo as she's very hairy, but her underside tummy looks pale and I can remember an RS pony who had Cushing's and her belly went really pale on the longer hairs - is she keeping her coat longer or drinking a lot/ weeing lots?

I'm no expert and she's very hairy but the leg nearest the camera - the fetlock looks a bit swollen, can someone watch you trot her up?
the pale part is mud. She's shedding but only a couple of hairs and don't thinks she's been drinking any different than before and weeing the same.
ill trot her up tomorrow she how she is. To me on that photo it looks as if she's on her toes? if that makes sense.

I agree, it doesn’t look like she’s pushing weight all the way down the back of the leg into the ground. What is the other leg like? And what happens if you pick up the opposite foreleg?

Wanted to give a little update. Blue seems a little happier and trotted straight into the field this morning so I let her out. After 2 days in the stable (overnight) she was getting a bit stiff and she has the tendency to box walk which doesn't help. I think she's gained a little weight as well, not much but she doesn't look as skinny (I've been taking picture of her bum and it looks a bit more filled out than 8 days ago). But overall she does seem happier and a little bit back to her normal self.

i want your opinions on this. It doesn’t look right to me but i also don’t know whether i'm being paranoid. This is from 22nd of march, the day after her rug incident. Her other legs don't look like this and i’m pretty sure she’s due a trim. x
I would suspect mud fever on that white leg, though hard to tell from a photo.

Funnily enough these were my first thoughts too from the photo. I would have a good root around under her feather on all legs to check there isn’t anything hiding. Mud fever can spring up very quickly. Could be nothing but best to know for sure.

Out of interest OP, how much hay is left in the mornings after she has been in for the night? That is a good indicator of whether you are giving her enough and that she isn’t running out.

I looked today and not she doesn't have mud fever however she has a hole there. she didn't have it yesterday. I don't know what it is but I've had to leave her this morning as I was in a mad rush but I'm going back up again soon with someone to help me with it. its so annoying cos I thought she was getting better now she's got a hole in her leg

I gave her loads so I know she will have enough, I give her it on the floor has I have no Haynets left and she leaves a decent amount but she does eat most of it.

Where is the hole and how big is it?

I would be wanting to get it cleaned and dried and depending on what it is, keeping her in to prevent anything getting infected. Maybe she has injured herself when she got caught up in her rug.
it must have happened only yesterday or today cos she hasn't it when was in. its around maybe pinky finger sized hole and its on her back leg on her pastern? just under her fetlock . we are going to send pictures to vets

It could just be a patch of bad mud fever that is a common place for it.
I've looked a mud fever pictures but its nothing like that. her feathers are completely gone in that area and its just skin with that hole. no scabs, no blood even, and the skin is like a pale pink.

isn't this were the rug got caught and has caused a wound? you need to clean this up and put proper antimicrobial cream, i think this is a vet question
I mean tbf I'm not asking on here what it is cos I kinda gathered that lol and as I said she didn't have this when I put her out yesterday morning.

It looks like an over reach to me. Whatever it is it’s deep and nasty. Get it cleaned out thoroughly with warm salt water, antiseptic in there and (probably bandage, although others may disagree). I suspect you’re going to need antibiotics, Bute and a tetanus (if she’s not up to date. You’ll also need to keep her on clean pasture or in.

That's an odd looking wound and not particularly fresh to my eye - I think you need to contact your vet. Can you get a mobile number or email possibly and send those photos over to them? For the moment keep it clean and dry as others have said.

I would clean it scrupulously not using any thing too strong ( possibly very dilute hibiscrub) and then pack with maluka honey and contact the vet.
