Last week for the first time I sat in the field on a stunningly beautiful day with my sharer and we had a bottle of wine and some cheese and biscuits while the horses grazed around us - it was lovely, relaxing with them. It was like a taking your horse on holiday experience.

Ok, we're all in our late 40's so not irresponsible *issheads and don't bring our other halfs for a gang bang, but the afternoon got me thinking .......:D

yes!! we often have bbqs on our yard through summer (quite often last minute decision) and theres usually a fair few beers and bottles of wine consumed between us all. I love it, all the other halfs come down too and its time for a good natter etc.
Your version sounds a lot more sophisticated than ours though :p :D

yes....i guess i will live in sin forever lol!

everyone has at some point im sure? we had a BBQ for my b'day and most of the yard was bladdered........

horses didnt mind :D

Er yes doesn't everyone summer evening south westish facing yard chair in front of stable with a horse in it watch the ones out grazing chat to horse friend glass of wine... lovely.

We do, sitting on the lawn chairs at the back of the barn on a summers evening, horses in front of you, swallows divebombing you, cats pestering...a few beers, or Pimms, or whatever, and the BBQ.

It does help that the yard is also home. :D

Yes. We often have bbqs in summer with a few drinks. There's only a few of us though & it's only a few minutes walk from home.

My yard is a dozen paces from my kitchen. This IS France so it is three course lunch with wine every day. I don't tend to eat or drink much in the evening though -just a sandwich or bowl of soup.

YO keeps a bottle of brandy for whenever someone gets nervous jumping in a lesson. Quick slug and they're off :D

Tbh I do think it's watered down... but it does the trick :D

ha ha brilliant!

In summer we sometimes go for a hack and come back have a bbq and swim (they have a pool). OUr hubbies/bf only come for the drinking bit lol

Never, ever. Its just wrong, like smoking.

 Drinking and smoking is wrong anywhere? Bit condemnatory. Or just at the barn? (I understand why you say that, but it is possible to do without setting fire to the place or corrupting the horses;))

Everyone smokes like trains at my place, but only outside, that rather goes without saying though. People bring picnics up, sit under the trees, let their children belt around, have a beer or wine - I think they actually enjoy being here.

We aren't a load of drunkards but this is a sociable barn and it does no harm, it is basically my back yard.

Yep once or twice, the yard is in walking distance so y/o has often enticed me in for a glass or two. Watching the horses grazing. lovely.

I like the whisky/jumping combo :p Once had 3 ports at a hunt meet. Boy did I feel queer, but not abit nervous :D

no because i don't drink lol but OH will often have a few cans of cider if he's down there on a hot day working, and he smokes too, the heathen!!;) of course we're on farm livery so there are no rules, and if you burnt down your own stables, farmer would probably just say it was your own stupid fault and you'll have to rebuild them!! we do often end up at my friends field on the same farm for impromptu get togethers and food and alcohol is often consumed:)

A couple of summers ago I went to catch one Sunday afternoon and ended up having to phone hubby 3hrs later to come and get me :o

In my defence there were friends there from another yard who are friends with the YO and they turned up on bikes intending to go on a bike ride, needless to say the bikes never left the wall they were propped up against.

Damn good afternoon from what I can remember - no horses were harmed ;)

My horse is at home and there was the occasion where I did a 3ft jump in the field at the back after a couple of lagers on a summer evening :D Nearly had a fit and demanded it was lowered when hubby set it up at the same height a couple of nights later when I was alcohol free

No, because I have to drive home. There's one sharer who I swears off her face most times she leaves (in her car :(). I'm afraid I think the amount of drinking on the yard is pretty disgraceful, given everyone drives there. :(

We had a BBQ once and the YO made a deadly concoction!! Brilliant fun! We also had a pimms and pizza evening after doing some work on the school, digging the track and such. We did have a really chavvy livery who used to drink stella at 10am and leave his glass beer bottles all over the yard - they were told to leave.

No. Never. Dont drink or smoke.

Yeh right. All the time. But in my defence, they are kept at home. Once road home pickled. . From friends about a mile up the track.

Bad guido. .

not regulary, but have started having champagne and nibbles xmas morning for whoever is around really nice way to start xmas :) normally followed by a short ride out . sometimes in the summer a couple of the girls sit and have a lager after riding , something about lager in the sun can't drink it any other time , often find a couple chilling in the fridge !
