Yes but only because she is clipped and lives out 24/7. My problem is that the vast majority of these dogs in coats spend the majority of their time inside and when they go out they are running around. If you were running around you soon warm up.

Mine do wear coats up at the yard. Being staffies though they have very thin coats with naked stomachs so do get cold. My old staffie would not go out in the rain unless she had a waterproof on! It does get very cold at our yard - I never had to rug as much as I do now and I certainly never had to wear so many coats myself!

Running around is fine, but as soon as they start to mooch around then they start to shiver!

yes majority dogs dont need coats,idealy coats should be taken off when they are running around,put back on so they dont get cold on some of the thin coated dogs

some clipped horses have exercise sheets on when working or running around

majority of native breeds donts need rugs either but alot of owners put them on

would you let yourself( or horse if clipped) go running if not warmed up first

also at times i put fleeces on my whippys throughout the nite..and kept indoors..heating goes off

Yes when she's really cold and if she'll be sitting still a lot. Would take off if she was hacking out with us etc. She just sits and shivers/whines and wants to be picked up otherwise. Have found that most coats rub if on long enough (hour at a time), except fleece lined ones which go down the legs a bit (sort of like a human jacket).
 
No - he is an Alaskan Malamute and the last thing he needs is another layer :D

When we had 2' of snow in the front garden he was at the door constantly wanting out to lay in it, and everytime he went for a walk he was bomb diving into the snow drifts head first - he loves the cold :D
 
Our welfare bullies all have equafleece Tankies on ,and as for Lucy..well she has a whole wardrobe;at the moment she has a rather natty "golfing " type sweater,with a red Equafleece jumper on top.She looks like little Red Riding Hood. Lad bull terriers feel the cold dreadfully ,and will get pneumonia easily if chilled.This wardrobe I might add is for indoors!!:D
 
Well my heating broke down in the night. Boy staffie went out for his normal wee in the garden first thing and was out for a while, naked. Started hyperventilating when he came in, became very clingy, shivering (!). Very unlike him, straight to the vets at 9.00 this morning.

He had got cold. Flipping dog. Also showed me up by being full of beans at the vets but is now wearing a thermatex indoors, under a large fleece blanket with a fire going.

Heating engineer comes tomorrow. Staffie bitch is tougher but she has taken up pride of place by the fire!
