Does anyone else's horse need clipping ALREADY??

Just wondering whether my horse is a hairy freak of nature, or if anyone else is eyeing up their clippers already

My horse is already getting rather fuzzy, especially round her tum and ears. Today's 'heatwave' just about finished her off and I really could clip her tomorrow, she's getting that woolly!

Is she just showing her common side (she's half hairy cob), is she confused, or is anyone else's horse growing its winter woollies already? Even her Highland boyfriend isn't fluffy yet

Ours are all loosing their summer coats and the winter ones are on the way through!

I can't wait to clip them but I refuse to do it until October at the earliest!
 
My lad is clipped through the summer, he has a pretty thick summer coat an cant cope with that. . . last time he was clipped was about 3 weeks ago and is very fluffy allready!
 
I clipped mine out about 3 weeks ago, and started clipping my mums out about 2 weeks ago, when we had a power cut half way through, and i'm still yet to finish her, haha

That's reassuring! I can't wait either - but I'll do her on 1st Sept.. I refuse to clip in August

We will then have a regular appointment at the hair salon, I've usually done 3 or 4 clips before the eventing season ends

Crikey, I usually get away with just clipping mine once (hence why I don't want to do it to early)

If I had to clip them that many times I'm not sure I would enjoy it as much as I do!!
 
Eurgh, tell me about it, I hate clipping but am very proficient now as I get a lot of practice! I just hate hair, but she loves growing it

my irish draught desperately needs clipping but out of principal and the big fight we have to have when i do clip him i am trying to keep it to 2 clips a year!!!
 
Baileys is sprouting hair - the connie in him overtaking the TB! He is dripping after work on a hot day despite being eventing fit so I am seriously considering getting the clippers out! I normally try to wait until the first week in September but I am not sure if I can this year

This thread has made me feel better I thought I was the only one! Maybe due to his age, I don't know, but the welshie had a summer coat for about two weeks, back in early June and then it was gone!!! I usually clip him mid to late September but Im pretty sure they clippers are going to come out at the beginning this year.
 
Not fuzzy yet, but our mare is definitely losing her summer coat on her bum.
We rug up early rather than clip, and she's got two more big shows in late aug/early sept.
I'm desperate to put a heavier rug on her (she wears a summer sheet or fly rug as she's very fine skinned and the flies drive her nuts) , but it was 20deg when I left the yard at 8pm!
 
Unfortunately yes. Over the last 2 weeks my lad has turned into fur ball and he hates the heat, even with his summer coat in. I was hoping to hold off till September but depends on what the weather does. If we have a heat wave my hand will be forced. I normally have to do about 5-6 clips through out the winter.
 
I'm looking to clip soon, although this year she's doing better than last....she was totally sweated this time last year.
However, she's turning black, and moulting so it won't be long now.
 
I did my mare last week. She has the body for a warmblood but the coat of her granddam - a hairy Irish cob. She looks so much better I wish I'd done her in June, but its already growing back in. I was worried about how she would look for showing but she looks way better now, she didn't have a winter coat but just a very long summer coat and, seeing how much came off, I'm not surprised she spent most of her time sweating and standing in the shade in the field shelter!
