Okay an odd question I know

but it took 4 years for one of mine to do this with me, whether he felt as he had 2 homes before me he has not settled. My other boy took a matter of months.
Thoughts?

But one of the most chilled horses i have ever known! He neighs to everyone/ all the other horses

Edited to say that hes a bit of a loudmouth..... not at all like his owner....

Mine does, when I first arrive in the morning and when I get her in in the eve oh and when I come round the corner with dinner! So I dont know if she's neighing at me or the food?!
She has the most destintive neigh, farrier says it's like a machine gun, I've not heard another horse like it.
I wanted to put it as a distingusing factor on her passport!
 
Tony, the shitland does. He goes to the corner of the field and watches me in the yard, and neighs every time I turn my back. Its a definite shout of "OI, I'm STARVING!!!!!!!!" and he does it with EVERYONE.

Larry, the 17.2hh beast neighs when he hears his mum pull u pand its so sweet, and Bondi neighs when he is being ignored.
 
My mare whickers at me and sometimes lets out a big one when she sees me coming, other people walk past her stable and she doesn't bother

Only one of them. Benji. I wish he wouldn't cos its the most embaressing neigh ever and people always laugh at him

I used to have Ollie at livery and never heard a sound from him. When I moved him to DIY he started to greet me as soon as I came into the yard. Mind you I think this is probably a case of being pleased to see the person who feeds him!
 
One does and one doesn't. The one who doesn't is very arrogant anyway and only sees me as someone who delivers his meals

Mine used to when i first got him 3 months ago, but it is getting less the longer i have him. He is more likely to neigh if it is cold and raining and he wants to come in though!
 
Yes, mine used to neigh when she saw my car. Now we've moved and she can't see my car, she neighs when I go into the barn.

Yesterday, I went up with my little girl and we were talking on our way to the barn, she neighed when she heard my voice.

I do think it's really sweet.
 
My old boy used to whicker but rarely raised his voice and until he left this earth my other boy hardly uttered a sound! Since then he whickers in the morning and if left on his own in the field in the evening, only calls once he hears my voice - considering he's 17.2 of ID, it's quite high pitched!! Having said that I'm sure there are days when he would shout very long and loud if he could when we get our communication wires crossed - it's such hard work training us humans ;-)
 
My boy always whickers to me - in the morning and even when tied up and he spots me. I like to think he loves me

He did get very grouchy when I was ill and he was on full livery, he even bit the YO which is unheard of!!

Yes but not in a cute way!! Only when he is trying to communicate annoyance or pain...

Last winter he was last one in field...I parked car, called him and he screamed (normal if he thinks he's waited long enough). I went to get head collar, walked back out and he screamed again, I said something like 'alright i'm coming!' and he screamed again...this time I panicked!! Poor sod...he ripped off both front shoes in the field then stood on the toe clip cutting open his sole, he was non weight bearing on that leg and shaking with pain.

He will also speak if he has been on yard too long (i.e. waiting for vets / trimmer) which is high pitched and whingey and I find it quite distressing so i have to go and hide somewhere!

Oh and if we go to parties i get lots of nose flapping little noises.

And every morning/night he speaks for his feed, but this is very deep rumbling sound, sort of 'bring it hear bitch!' coupled with a nasty face!!

I never ears pricked 'yay its mummy!' neigh!!
 
Mine does when we arrive in the morning and also if you call his name when you're coming back on a hack on one of the others. he is quite vocal anyway though and whickers for his breakfast/tea or sometimes just cos he wants to come in.

Him and his friend neigh at each other all the time at shows - it's very annoying! think his friend is/was insecure though and that's how it started. Mine though always used to like to neigh when he came back off a xc or finished his showjumping. he never neighs during a course or dressage test or anything though!

Think he just likes the sound of his own 'voice'!
