This is a bit of a fun thread and looking for inspiration!!
As some of you know I have a 4 year Welsh part bred who to be honest looks more cob than anything else, fairly well put together but nothing spectacular. I've shared before that he's had some issues in the school particulalry on the right rein canter, I've debated with myself whether to completely forget school work for now or to get the basics established ready for some down time over the winter. I toyed with the idea and decided to have weekly lessons at a local instructors yard to just establish the basics, that he can walk trot and canter confidently as he is a bit of a worrier by nature. So we now hack a few times a week, do a bit of groundwork and have one flatwork lesson a week.
Well to say he has come on leaps and bounds is an understatement. Had our third lesson this morning and we already have softening and collection, and the start of some decent canter work. So to get to the point he is proving to be rather trainable and willing, whilst we are planning to keep things very simple and relaxed this summer due to him being obviously very young still, my instructor thinks he may have a real aptitude for dressage as he's rather athletic and can be quite exuberant for his build!! So whilst we are long way off dressage competitions, it's something I had never even considered, so hopefully something to work towards for next spring/summer.
So looking for inspiration really! Any of you have one of these super duper turbo cobs with a talent for dressage I've heard about? Would absolutely love to see pictures and hear your stories of training your cob for dressage!!
A few necessary token pictures of Arlo, he even had a bath and a bit of a tidy up as was starting to look like a bit of a bog pony!
After his bath look semi smart I think! -
