So sadly after 3 refittings I’ve sadly come to the conclusion that my made to measure Albion Revelation dressage saddle is never going to fit my mare. This is really disappointing as I’ve only had it for 18 months and it’s a lovely saddle but I don’t think it’s ever really fitted well and now relations have completely broken down with the saddle fitter, I’ve spent nearly £1,000 on adjustments and Albion are completely disinterested. As a result I’m about to start the hunt for a new dressage saddle and wondered if I could get some suggestions.

My mare is an ISH (half TB) event horse, compact with good confirmation so despite the nightmares with my Albion is straightforward to fit. Ideally I’d like a monoflap that’s reasonably lightweight and my budget is around £3,500.

All Saddle Solutions do a monoflap - I have the normal one and I love it and so does my horse. Well within your budget and made to measure.

Fairfax Gareth Hughes Monoflap - just love mine. Goldenstar put me on to it (not literally, by way of recommendation I mean) and I am so pleased she did.

I really like my Equipe Emporio monoflap. I've also found that the Ideal Jessica really suits my TB like warmblood although this isn't a monoflap.

I agree the equipe emporio is lovely, I cant afford one but have ridden in one and loved it <3

I agree in theory - I have a Fairfax dressage saddle which is apparently the precursor to this one. It isn't monoflap but I love it - I imagine I'd love the monoflap one even more but unfortunately can't afford it at the moment! If money was no object and it fit my horse I would always go for a Fairfax though.

I have a Prestige Venus K, which has to be the most comfortable saddle I've ever sat in. Unfortunately I doesn't fit me (I have short stubby legs :( ) otherwise I wouldn't ride in anything else!

As you have a generous budget and are looking for a lightweight saddle, why not try a solution smart dressage saddle? The new pro range look very nice and being 'rigidfree' have lots of benefits.

A bit different, as I use the solution smart native GP for my cob, but I can't help but recommend the saddles to everyone! Definitely worth a try at the very least.

I second All Saddle Solutions, I have the monoflap dressage saddle and I love it. It's v comfy, really helped my position and my horse has always gone well in it. I find Claire who runs it v helpful as well.
I was really lucky and managed to get a second hand one complete with some bling which are a bit like hens teeth I think as no one ever wants to sell them!!

Hi. just want to thank everyone for all their replies - lots of suggestions that weren't on my radar at all. I'm hoping to try some saddles over Easter so will post how I get on. Fingers crossed it's second time lucky!
