Nobody is hysterical but you are right, nobody has seen the animal - including the vet.

Has the poster said they still havent seen a vet? I must have missed that post. Metacam has to come from a vet after call or it would be illegal. In any case, what do you think will be achieved by making the same point again?

but going on the information provided this dog is in pain and needs a vet, the SO1 thread was very different in that people made a couple of snarky comments, but the vet has been involved from day 1. So it was unpleasant as people were annoyed their advice wasn't being followed, but SO1 was following advice from vets and rehabbers who have seen the horse multiple times.

This poor dog hasn't been seen by a vet and is described as being in pain, and the owner appears to dismiss it as just something that happens to old dogs.

It was more than snarky comments. There were pages of comments that the vet didn’t know what they were talking about, and SO1 should take HHO advice over a vet who had seen the horse. How anyone knows that for a fact I’m not sure!

By all means, make the point, but it doesn’t need ramming home quite so much and then resurrecting to make the same point again.

Indeed and I did comment to that effect, but this thread is different. OP clearly doesn't care, but just maybe someone reading it will think about their situation and take their dog to the vet rather than let it suffer.

She hasn't said she has seen a vet recently but 5 unqualified adults think she isn't in pain, so that okay then.

I would hope that OP reads the posts of people who are able to recognise signs of pain from the description and are concerned about the dog and hopefully she will take the dog to see the vet for examination and advice.

I will repeat, if people aren't prepared to pay for veterinary advice don't get a dog.

Having not read all of the replies I thought maybe I’d mention that my old dog was wobbly behind. She would kind of forget which leg to move sometimes.
Her actual leg joints were ok. Metacam didn’t make any difference at all, neither did something else we trialled which I can’t remember the name of.
Steroids did though. She had a few a day and they really did help her out. Might be worth a think if normal pain killers haven’t made any difference perhaps.
Cheap to try!
