Equidry… worth it?

I do up all the zips and pockets then hose off my Equidrys regularly with me standing in them 🤣.

I do that after doing the last properly mucky chore in the morning (usually hefting muddy turnout rugs back on) and then I drip dry finishing off the clean jobs 😁.

When I do machine wash, I use Nikwax products.

I thought they'd put more emphasis in the past on hosing over regular washing. But then washing at the end of winter I'd view as being in a 'hose down, don't wash (much)' category - however I used to wash coats weekly/fortnightly! 😂
I wouldn’t ever wash any waterproof coat weekly or fortnightly. Some very stinky / dirty ones I might wash every couple of months. I don’t care how much I smell though 🤣.

Interesting to hear about the Reincoat lite, after 3 failed attempts with the Equidry mac and nothing to show for it, I think the Reincoat could be worth a try.
I’ve had a reincoat lite for a while now and it’s not let me down yet. Been out in torrential rain & no problem.

I got one when I had a rider helping get my youngster back under saddle after his winter break and was out in the elements a lot. I love it, it’s perfect for chucking over pjs for late checks/morning feeds (horses at home) but as someone who naturally runs quite hot I don’t think I could wear it for riding/dog walks or anything where I’m busy moving about.

I worry about this because I have a faulty inner thermostat. I run cold naturally, but any physical activity at all and I them overheat (it’s a nightmare). I don’t think I could muck out and do jobs in mine, but it’s great for walking to the muck heap and filling waters etc.

I'm exactly the same, thermostat-wise. I have a light reincoat for doing jobs or riding (optional jumpers underneath) and the lightest equidry (not very light!) for when I'm not intending on doing very much (quick yard visits in the cold, standing around at shows etc).

I bought a Dry Robe for dog walking. It was £112 on website. It’s good with zip pockets. And covers my fat bum size 22 🤭
Got black with scarlet inside. Also got 2 inside pockets one for phone and keys and I use other for poo bags and my treats pouch

This sounds like me. I’m always cold but riding gets me so hot. My riding hat is always steaming when I take it off!

If I put it in the machine for a rinse with no detergent would it be bad or good idea?
I’ve been wondering about doing this 🙂.

Simply spray hosing off my Equimac outside works really well in keeping it clean, so a no detergent rinse ought to work too.

Make sure there’s no accumulated lumps of old detergent in the dispenser drawer, and maybe run a hot cycle with an empty machine and no detergent first.
