Erm..I got another horse..argh and another...whoops

Fabulous post!! Just goes to show the difference a kind, knowledgeable owner makes, she clearly trusts you in a way she hasn't ever trusted another human being. How wonderful! :)

What a lovely, lovely story. Well done you, to take her on and get her going like that.

Really like your new chestnut boy as well. Very smart.

That is the best story! What a wonderful outcome for her. Did you ever get to the bottom of how she got the scar tissue. Did someone leave a saddle on her for weeks, sounds baffling?

What a lovely story and yes I have leaky eyes too - very inspirational x

I haven't been on this forum for ages and logged on this morning and read this and remembered why I used to love the forum - just for posts like this.

Hope you have lots of fun together in the future and well done xx

Oh gosh! I am totally overwhelmed by ALL of your comments. Thank you thank you thank to every single one of you that left a comment, it genuinely made me tear up opening this thread back up! We've had lots of doubt, especially in the first couple of months from people but we're here, and we've achieved a million times more than I ever thought we would when I first sat on her. Thank you thank you to everyone individually who has commented- it means so much! I do wish MooMare could read right now :D

What a lucky horse to have found you, she looks to be rather a useful and talented type which might be part of the reason she was so messed up, bright talented cobs in the wrong hands can prove to be rather short on patience, intolerant of idiots who cannot see that they are causing pain or injury and far too much for less experienced riders so very quickly get moved on with every move being downhill in life, her future should now be far brighter in every way.
Thank you so much xx It must be so confusing to be a thoroughbred stuck in a cobby body :D I've often said if she was finer and bay- things wouldve worked out a lot differently in her life :(

What an awful start she has had but she really has fallen on her feet with you! It's lovely to her so happy, she's absolutely gorgeous! And your new boy is stunning, looks like a giant in the pictures! Keep us updated!

Thank you!!! xx Yes he's certainly on the gigantic side of life ;) this is me next to him...I'm5'2 haha really he's 'too big' for me but because hes so easy to do and quite short in the back we're okay :D

Oh dear, there seems to be something in my eye...

You've done such a great job with her and she's gorgeous. She cuts quite a figure in the arena, doesn't she? She carries herself very nicely. Seriously, well done you.

May I ask - how long was it between her arrival at your yard and your first competition?

I'm also very jealous of your new ginger giant. I look forward to hearing more about him.

Thank you thank you xx She arrived with us at the end of febuary and we went to Arena uk mid april :)
haha he is super lovely, hes had a few months off and won't be doing any jumping till next year as he needed quite intensive chiropractic treatment for a couple of months but now on board and building up slowly :D

Super post, what a smart little cob.

Thank you :D xx I wish she was little haha :D I feel like a pea on her, think she stands at about 16hh but she's about that wide too :D

Ah she's gorgeous, and well done for persevering, I bet her owner who sold her for peanuts has the green eyed monster now! But my, all that white - I hope she likes being washed! :D

Thank you :D Well..me and her owner before last weren't on brilliant terms anyway due to the way she treated her horses and was so damn big headed about herself. Ha I've NEVER owned a horse that needs to be so white...so she's currently brown instead ;)

What a lovely post. Misty is so lucky to have found you.
However, 7 horses is far too many. I am willing to help you deal with this problem. You can send Johnny to me today.

Aw thank you! Thats very kind of you...well as long as all you want to do is plod everywhere...very slowly...then he will be the horse for you ;) He has no...omphhh at all...about anything haha :D But this is what makes him so loveable :D super super laid back boy :D

Hi OP another one thinking you've done an excellent job, she looks lovely. As someone else asked how long did it take to get her from start to competing? I've got a similar mare though luckily doesn't bronc, how do you cope with that and not completely lose your nerve? I'd be terrified to get on.
Thank you so much!! xx She came to us end of febuary and we bit the bullet and took her out mid april :) It was a MASSIVE step and we were ready for it to go very wrong but you don't know until you try, she didnt put a foot wrong. She loads like an absolute lamb as well which broke my heart thinking about it because I wondered if she thought she was yet again going to a new home and being passed on- I reassured her before we left with promises of returning to home :D
it has been terrifying at times but you just have to keep your cool, in the beginning I'd get on her and shed go bolt upright, bronk, run into walls from complete fear and it'd just be a case of deep breath and praise and pats. You had to be VERY careful not to touch her with your leg or pull with the hand. And it's paid off :)

Absolutely amazing. Well done you! I think you are extremely brave. Nothing more scary IMO than getting on an emotionally and physically damaged horse that might 'explode' at any minute. She looks amazing. Love the new boy too..

Thank you so much :D We did have some explosions and even still now when I get on her she's ready to run so we have reached an agreement where I get on and she's aloud to trot off but she comes back to walk in a few steps :D

Lovely post. I'm usually not keen on cobs much at all but she is really really smart!

Thank you!! x Me neither! Never thought I'd own one but she's secretly a top thoroughbred stallion ;)

That is the best story! What a wonderful outcome for her. Did you ever get to the bottom of how she got the scar tissue. Did someone leave a saddle on her for weeks, sounds baffling?

Thank you thank you so much xx Unfortunately not :( Some of the scars run parallel with saddle panels, some with perhaps bars on a carriage (sorry ,I dont know driving lingo) and some along her ribs too :( she has a perfectly circle doughnut shaped one on her quarters :( poor baby xx

I can't believe she has scars from tack :(

My sisters horse is a wuss when it comes to saddles, and he's never been treated like that, he's had lots of treatnent, different saddles, and he's still edgy when he sees a saddke some days.

I think it's better to leave white horses brown, they roll to make them less visible to predators, washing it off is just cruel ;) that's what I tell myself anyway:D

Just how I like 'em. My Monty is the same, doesn't see the point in wasting energy. He's 20 now but was the same as a 5 year old. Nobody has ever fallen off him, just fallen over with him! He does everything you ask, but never overdoes anything! Hope you have many happy laid back years with him and MistyMooMare!

Wonderful story to read, she's very lucky to have found you and full of admiration for you for working so hard to let her enjoy life again. I love her markings. Also lovely chestnut too!

Aw thank you so much, thats really lovely :) Yes, I was really surprised when I saw how white she was all over! (i hadnt seen her without a rug on before she got here) x

Ah ha I LOVE your theory :D Think I'll go with that from now on :D Yeah they're really deep as well, almost like ridges :( poor girlie. x

Thank you! Ha Johnjohn tripped over a patch of grass the other day...don't think he'd last long in the wild bless him!

What a lovely picture. Your smile and her ears say it all.
Thank you! We were all kind of expecting her to just explode (quite fairly bless her) but she didn't at all!! she was hot as usual but good as gold really :D
What a fabulous post!! Lovely horses and you've done an amazing job with the 'needs shooting' mare

Thank you so much :)

You really have an eye for a good horse, or two, or more lol. Well done you.

Thank you ha I think I tend to pity buy which is awful really considering my yard was supposed to be my business...whoops. :D But at least I have happy horses :) x

Would be interesting to hear what happened to Milly, poor girl. Gorgeous chestnut!
I know me too :( Would love to know where it all started to unravel and go oh so wrong poor baby :( x

Fabulous thread, brought a tear to my eye. Looking forward to lots more pictures of them both.

Thank you :) here's a couple

I very rarely log on but just had to reply. Wonderful story, your kindness and understanding has paid off. Tears in my eyes.
Well done and may you both have a great, productive happy future.

What an amazing achievement. Never ceases to amaze me what a lot of love, patience and time can achieve and how forgiving animals can be considereing what we humans can and some do, put them through.

What a lovely story and she is so lucky to have made her way to you. I have a little charity mare, I've had her 3 years and know so little about her history (def neglect and she was v poorly before she came to me). We've had some bumps along the way with her backing but improving every day now and building her trust is the key. I can only hope to have the same bond as you and your girl.

Made me cry, what a beautiful outcome for both of you. What a superstar you are, wishing you both many years of fun and happiness x
