Regarding watching it I added the bbc sports app onto my iPad and had no problems either yesterday or today, clear picture and commentary

Just discovered there appear to be two versions of it. One corrupted if you search in iplayer for European equestrian championships cross country and one different but perfect if you search omitting the "cross country". Just thought I'd mention in case anyone else has the same problem. X
