Hi, i've been looking for a new horse recently and at the moment i just dont know where to go, i've seen a few i like but then some of them have been at dealers and i've researched them and decided against.
Basically im looking for any age horse at the height of about 16 - 16.3hh that can help me improve my jumping as im quite nervous when the height goes up, i can ride and am frequently used as a crash dummy on other peoples horse, just mine i dont trust anymore. im looking to start competing bsja maybe be now though.
If anyone knows somewhere to get a good one then please let me know :)

To be honest, I found the right horse, in the most unlikely place. So perhaps spread your search a little and be prepared to compromise within reason.

My perfect horse was a Project Horse. Labelled as dangerous by many but loved very much by his old owner and she was very honest when she sold him to me - and now I have my perfect horse, grumpy but absolutely foot perfect, faultless in every other way.

Would an alternative be to work with your current horse, maybe get some regular training or something? Apologies if I'm suggesting something silly, but poss worth a go if he has the scope etc for you, but you just haven't hit it off jumping or if he needs more work?

^^ this. I found my perfect horse at a rescue centre (see my thread in PG - we've been together 6 years today :D)

She really wasn't what I was looking for - I wanted a 16hh+ tb gelding to event, and ended up with a 15hh cob mare, but she has been absolutely perfect for me.

So - try anything and everything, even if it doesn't necessarily tick every box. Also, I'd spread the word that you are looking - try your instructor/local feed merchants/tack shops - word of mouth is often the best way to find a good horse.

Thanks I think i've found one though
Im in Kent and my budget is about 8k,
as I said though I think i've found him but does anyone know anything on swing hock? we had him vetted and he has a very mild case but the vet said it wont affect him, just want to be sure

never heard of swing hock? put it in Veterinary and see what response you get

did your vet mean stringhalt? If so - then the horse would have to be cheap .... :)
