I got to the yard last night and couldnt see my big girl Diesel waiting as she normally does, I thought she must of been further down stuffing her face, So i got my other 2 in and my friends pony that i'm looking after but there was still no sign, I walked around the field with a friend calling for Diesel and heard snorting coming from the corner gate, When i saw her i felt sick!! She had her front legs over a 5 bar metal gate and her hind legs on the other side, Her legs were badly cut, She was stuck on the gate covered in brambles and nettles and was freezing cold from Shock and the Rain. She'd been there for sometime too as there were poos everywhere (we think about 3hrs) My friend ran for help while i held my exhausted girls head up (big head too she's a 17.3 ID)!! She'd sunk the gate into the ground, Goodness knows how she go into that position. I put more rugs on her and we covered the gate in rugs so that if she struggled her legs wouldnt go through, We then called the vets and fire brigade both of which were with us within 10 minutes. Diesel was sedated and the fire crew set to work. They cut her free and i walked her back to the stable to be examined by the vets, She has severe bruising to her belly, stifles and legs and nasty cuts on her hind legs, She is on box rest and bute for the next few days but i am allowed to walk her inhand for some Dr Green.
My fellow Yardies, Vets and Fire Brigade were amazing, Everyone worked together to save my beautiful girl, I will forever be in Debt to them.
