You have my heartfelt admiration - I'm sure you have had dark days, but your positive attitude is quite humbling; especially for someone as lazy-arsed as me!
I watched a news item recently where there was a slot about the horseguards using riding to rehabilitate injured soldiers, not all of whom had been riders previously. One of the chaps on there had been a lifeguard before and he had had his leg amputated above the knee. He talked at some length about the problems he had overcome to grip with his seat properly whilst controlling his prosthetic leg.
I'm sure if you gave the army a ring they would be only too happy to share experiences with you.
