Well we are hanging on just about! It took me 1 1/2 hours to get home last night (normally about 20 mins) and ages to get into work this morning, so many roads are closed, the amount of water is just unbelievable! I heard an awful thing in Asda last night (the checkout girl told me) she said that two horses drowned near Burneside. I don't know if its true but I just felt sick. A police officer is missing in Keswick after a bridge collapsed, I hope to God they find him safely. It has stopped raining now and weirdly it is quite warm. I'm sorry its not a very happy post

Sounds horrendous.....fingers crossed for some better weather..I'm in Lancashire and we have had couple of rivers go but nothing compared to what Cumbria's had

awful news about the missing policeman. i hadn't even thought of horses and livestock being at risk, but of course... poor things. i watched the news and it looked as though the RAF and the Coastguard guys did an absolutely amazing job, all credit to them all.

Thank you all so much for the lovely words - I really has made me feel better! The rain stopped for 5 minutes and the sun came out just now but then suddenly back to rain. I work in Kendal, some of it is really bad but we are ok, there was an old folks home that had to be evacuated last night - they are all ok thankfully. If you saw the news last night it was live from Burneside which is about 1/4 of a mile from Kendal, they are famous! You all would have laughed if you had seen me checking the horses last night, they are in a 20 acre wood and I was like a drowned rat by the time I eventually found them, they were very surprised to see me in the pitch black waving a torch around! Luckily they are all fine, but it is bizarre how warm it is, it was 13 degrees last night. Once again thank you all, it is lovely to know people care about you!

Our fields are underwater, but luckily our horses are safe and dry inside. I dont think we have it as bad as you though...fingers crossed to all those affected

Gawd, it must be awful.

One of our ceiling tiles fell in at work right over where I sit, and the roof is still leaking and we're all getting dripped on.

But this is nothing to what you poor people are going through

Goodness have just seen the pictures of it on the news. Unbelievable. I am further north and think we have escaped fairly lightly so far.
Hope the missing people are found safely.
