What a lovely pic! She looks very pretty and you are both well turned out.
I tend to prefer flatter nosebands and this one seems to be quite stiff looking as well. Maybe a darker tie would set off the jacket better.
If you were going county, it would be good to remove the dressage straps and see if your saddler were able to adjust the straps to be normal ones. I can't remember whether you do dressage as your main discipline. Also, your reins could be laced rather than rubber or grip (difficult to see in the photo). I also wonder (and again difficult to tell from this angle) whether your saddle could go back an inch or two to give her more front.
I have seen one racehorse class where one of the competitors went round in about 200 circles to everyone elses 1 circle. So - if youlike circles, why not!
The rules might have changed but when we did 15handers with my old pony we wern't members of BSPS and we didn't join because we were never going to go to the championships. He may have qualified for the champs in every worker he did we couldn't afford to go to the champ plus he was eventing fit at the time and would have looked out of place!
Believe it or not I did qualify for all the big ones as a kid.

Well go for it then! You have enough to choose from. We have an ex racer who won HOYS LW hunters last year although it took a full season for him to work out that picking up the reins was not an instruction to take off as quickly as possible. Have to say that his rider didn't wear pink tweed though ...
Id be laughed off the showground!
Have an unbendable ankle, so not only do I limp but cant do anything but shove that foot in the iron.
But if it gioves me a chance to wear pink tweed.....
You look very smart. I would be careful about going to yellow with your jods if you have a dun - you need to make sure that you do not clash with her. Having said that, you could certainly go a little more canary than the cream you are currently wearing. I would be tempted to get darker gloves next time you replace them as unless you have exceptionally good hands, darker gloves draw less attention (mine are always dark for that reason!) Also, I would consider getting a darker tie perhaps for more contrast - maybe red or a colour that is in your jacket. It is difficult with some photos to see what the true colours are as what I see on my screen will be different to what other people see.

where do you stand on velvet collars, personally hate them!
[/ QUOTE ]
I have had them in the past but don't at the moment! I am not so keen on the velvet piping on pockets for adult showing classes, but no problem with velvet collars. I would say from choice I would not wear them in a hunter class, but you would not get marked down if you did.
FMM- do you have any suggestions for ties? I'm going to look into that green tweed you said about in the PMs but what could I do about my tie? It's navy and small polkas- i don't want to go into colour over kill! I'll look for some jackets tonight with the suppliers you recommended and i'll try some on at Badders if i've not sorted it by then. Thanks again for your advice!
PS at 27 I don't think i'd get away with the lovely bright colours
Ties are tricky. Can you see in these two pics how the same tie looks different with each jacket. The in hand pic jacket should have a much darker tie as the yellow disappears into the shirt and jacket and can't be seen. I now have a burgundy with a dark pattern on it. The tie is quite a bright yellow with rocking horses on it, and looks much better with the darker jacket in the second picture.
This pic is the lighter jacket with a darker tie, but I still wasn't happy with it (haven't got any pics of the new tie!) but hopefully you can see that it looks better already with a darker tie.
So inhand you can do with jods, boots and riding hat? I thought I had to wear some poncy hat that bounces around (well mine all do), kahkis (although great excuse to invest in those Caldene riding trousers!!) and jod boots??
Sorry - that pic was just me running Cappu up when we were doing the conformation section of the ridden cob class.
For proper in hand (excluding arabs and some welshie classes) you won't go wrong wearing your jacket and tie, a hat (could be a beagler or trilby - but not a harnessed hat for an adult), a pair of smart trousers and jod boots. The trousers should be darker for a horse with white legs, and lighter for a horse with dark legs. It is not vital, but that is a rough guideline.
I want to do some equitation and WHP classes with Castle this year, what tweed do you think would look nice? I currently have a grey/black tweed jacket (well fitted), but is it a bit bland? As I am prepared to buy another one!
(I only have a photo of myself in the hunting jacket, but I thought that would give you an idea on the colours of tweed that would suit Castle
If you were feeling daring, (and because you are young enough) the very dark navy tweed may look nice. If you are feeling more traditional (and looking for something that will last!) then dark green with a bright line check would be lovely. To be honest, most horses suit the darker jacket more than the washed out lighter colours.
The one more like your jacket with the larger check? Yes - it is a lovely tweed, but will date more quickly, whereas no. 3 is more traditional. The larger check is a fairly new pattern in the showing world, and as you are younger and ride ponies, you can wear all the new stuff. The adults tend to stick with the more traditional colours and tweeds!
