For foal cam addicts...

Not trying to cause a argument (which, sadly, is easy to do on here!) but i have a question.. why do they put a rug on the foals right away when they look like they are still wet? surely this will make them get a chill? no crit from me, just curious :o

ETS: gorgeous little foal!

Aww I missed it! Kind of knew that would be inevitable though! Bless her what a gorgeous little filly! So pleased for her :) Will go watch the you tubings now :)

ETA Just shows that the little change of scenery and walk outside helped move things along. (could be coincedence) But am sure it helped :)

Hi All,

Just to answer a couple of questions:

They are in South Carolina where they very rarely get snow and freezing temperatures, but there is are major snowstorms in that part of the U.S. right now. Something they haven't seen in years.

They blanketed the filly so quickly and had a heat lamp running due to the cold.
The video is running in the Mare Stare Group and on the Barnmice home page, for those who missed it. :)

Hi All!

I am very good friends with Mulligans Run, in fact they are like my second family. I also have a mini that lives there :)

Yes, here in South Carolina we are having a horrid winter! Last night as the filly was being born we were getting snow and it was incredibility cold! I think the low last night was 20*F (sorry I dont' know the conversion to Celsius) Today the high is only suppose to be 30*F and we are now getting freezing rain.

So to answer a few questions...

Heather and Shannon dried the foal quite a bit and put the blanket on so quick because of the cold temperatures. They also put up 2 heat lamps to help keep her warm as well.

They did not breed this mare, they are foaling her out for someone else. They routinely take in others mares to foal out for other owners, you will see several on cam this year. :) Also keep in mind, our winters are not usually this brutal.

Hope that helps to answer a few things. :)

Can anyone answer the following question?

When the barn alarm goes off - how do you know which horse is foaling? Does it give you a link?

The poor little mum has colic :( I knew something was up when she kept going to have a poo, but nothing happened. She keeps laying down and her beautiful little filly is running around her. You can also tell it's uncomfortable for her when the filly is feeding from her.

I hope she will be ok!
