One of the other horse owners charges me £20 a day per horse "full" livery. What would you expect for this? I have 2 horses and use her at least 5 days a week.

mucked, fed
In and out to turnout
Rug changes
Hard feed given
Just basic day to day care so you don’t have to come to yard

Agreed, with feet picked and legs hosed if muddy, ideally

Feed x 2, rug changes, mucking out, turning out and bringing in, brush over Inc physical check x 2, feet pick, Haynet filling and putting in.

I would expect to have agreed with her exactly what she was going to do and when she was going to do it, before either of you agreed to the arrangement.
e. all of the above! 😂

So you're paying her £200 a week? About £860 a month for 2 horses? Presumably you also pay for your stable, and field, and hay, and bedding, and feed, and.... and...

Would you not be better off having them on full or part livery and getting everything included, I'm sure it must cost less!

She does them once a day and beds aren't done particularly well. Grooming and feet isn't included. I tried to get in someone else as can't afford her prices and she started having a go at me. Today she's charged me an extra £5 per horse for doing feet. Wahhhhh

I'd normally have offered £15 pet horse as my two do need hay soaked if we have no haylage in. However I agreed more because she was coming especially to do my horses some days so that covered petrol. However she got her own horse as was part sharing so now comes daily for her own. She only does them once a day, sometimes doesn't even stick them in the school for a leg stretch. Doesn't clean up outside my stable or clean water buckets, feed buckets etc and now started charging to do feet too. Roll on Summer turn out

I pay £25 a day to the yard for feeding x2, turn out, catch in, rug change each time, muck out, do hay and water, wash feet if required. Grooming isn't included but she does sometimes seem to have had her feet picked. Luckily I only need that once a week!

So, if I have this correct, you are paying £40 a morning for her to feed, turnout and muck out 2 horses?
Most decent grooms I know would be around £30 inc travelling, would take about an hour all in, including feet picking and a quick brush off.

Once a day yes but usually she comes like 4pm. The yard owner feeds AM. Yes £40 muck out, not always very thoroughly. Fill waters, nets and feed

I tried to use someone else but she went ballistic and there's only 9 horses on the yard and 2 of those are mine and 5 of them are her and her best friends so if I get on the wrong side of her the yard would be unbearable

So you are paying her over £10k a year for a little of her time, she has no travelling time/fuel to buy as she's already at the yard, nice little earner for her, and she doesn't seem to be doing a good job of it, it seems you are paying a good chunk of her livery fees. Time to think about an alternative system, time to get quotes from full livery yards for comparison. Have a look on these livery list. co.uk and livery yards . com

She is freelance, just stop using her!

Do your horses even get turned out?
Not always no. She will make sure hers are out though. Winter we only have a barn to use every 4 days and the school. I hand walking mine for hours and put in the school when I do them.

Today her adding the £5 per picking feet out has tipped me over the edge

Well it sounds like a completely unsuitable situation all round, both horse welfare and cost.

Just move onto full livery somewhere

The days I'm there I get them out at least 5 hours. We are in from end of November until end of March.

I also have a sharer that will turn them out and walk in hand and also pay for them to be exercised. Just meant she doesnt always make sure they go out.

Having looked at your posting history quite frankly it sounds like you need to stop being a doormat and leave. Nothing to be gained by staying. Paying for stabling + £20/day services + additional £ for exercise. You’ll find a reputable full livery yard for that with some change.
