She perked up last night, came looking for food and then we found her upstairs looking for the cat crunchies that we sometimes leave out up there 😅

No diarrhoea in the night, and she was eager for a bit of breakfast this morning, but she went out afterwards and still has awful diarrhoea, though far less of it and not as red. Dehydration is still a massive concern, though she can drink now without throwing up. We’ve also managed to get the omeprazole in her last night and this morning.

Vet first thing this morning to decide the next steps, but I’m feeling a bit more hopeful than I did yesterday. When I posted my update on here yesterday evening, I honestly thought that was it. She had lay in the same place for 5 hours, barely moving, and just looked like she’d given up. I’m aware that things could go either way, given her age, but she’s got fight in her today which she didn’t have yesterday.
We still won’t subject her to anything invasive, or time away from us, so we will see what the day brings.

I’m glad she is a little better today. Fingers crossed for the vet appointment but I think you have made the right decision in not wanting her to be admitted .

I’m so glad to hear she’s perked up a bit and will keep everything crossed for a good vet visit with a positive outcome x

Just saw this and read through with tears eyes 😞
Glad to see the update. Just wanted to say my friend, about a month ago now I guess had much the same with her little terrier. She’s the same kind of age as yours and was really poorly. She pulled through it and is back to her normal little self. So there is hope xx

Glad things are looking more positive today, fingers crossed that continues. She's very lucky to have an owner like you that won't shy away from the tough decision when it's time x

I'm very late to this Scats but I hope she continues to improve and that it was an isolated episode triggered by something. It does happen, as mentioned above
In cats I've known with pancreatic issues, an enzyme was added to a selected diet which can have very positive results. Thinking of you both x

So we were doing really well, until this evening.
Vet was really pleased this morning with her progress. We had medication, a diet sheet and a plan. She had perked up and wasn’t being sick and hadn’t had diarrhoea since this morning. She’s had a normal day, pottering about happily and snoozing.

But this evening she’s just thrown up her tea and then started with the blood red bile and diarrhoea again 😢 I thought we were going to make it, I really did. But I’m concerned about dehydration and the toll on her body. She looked so bright today, I really thought we’d turned a corner.
We will see what tonight and tomorrow brings. She is the most beautiful, loyal girl and she never left my side when I broke my leg.

Bless her, hope she feels better again this evening. We recently have had one that suffered from chronic interspersed with acute bouts of pancreatitis. It is so painful :-( It can take several days or more for the pancreas to calm down once aggravated and I found I had to go really slowly with reintroducing food. In the end making up smoothies with bland food to get fluids into him really helped with the dehydration. The lowest fat food you can find or make (1-2%) takes the pressure off the digestive processes during recovery. Our vet said supplementing enzymes is only worth it if they are coated to make it past the stomach. Fingers crossed for you all x

What a rollercoaster for you. But it sounds like a big thing for a body to go through, so fingers crossed for that her body just need some time to get the symptoms under control.

She looks so sweet, and, I don't know, there's just something about her eyes which makes me think of kindness.

Thank you xx She is the the most amazing dog I’ve ever known. We got her from a rescue centre when she was 4 months old and she changed our whole lives. She is kind and loyal and we’ve been so, so lucky to have her for this long.
I'm sorry. What has the vet said?
This morning the vet said to start introducing small amounts of her new low fat diet (today we were to start with some rice and skinless chicken and sprinkle her medication on it) and just to monitor her and if she gets worse again or we are worried, ring them and they will see her straight away. She did suggest that if she continues to go downhill, the next step would be to scan her to see if it’s something sinister causing it, but as a family we have agreed that we would prefer to let her go to sleep if it comes to that.
She’s been settled for a few hours, snoozing and getting up for an occasional drink.

Everything crossed for your beautiful pooch. Pancreatitis seems so common these days. Wonder if often it was mis diagnosed as gastric upset on the past. Very best of luck. Wellness vibes being sent from here.

Only just seen this. I hope she improves again soon. I had to make the decision for my 17 year old JRT a couple of months ago. They diagnosed pancreatitis, but her heart rate kept dropping and like you, I didn’t feel it fair to leave her at the vets for days. They did scan her and didn’t find anything else.
