Halloween weekend plans :)

I thought you were suggesting you had thought AE was in control of her family, but clearly not if she has to do things with the boys too. I did think it was a bit...:p 😂

Haha. I knew what Fiona meant... OH and son don't really feature much on HHO! But they do exist. As do a variety of extended family members who occasionally politely request my time. Which I try VERY hard not to resent as when I am 87 I would like to think I'd get the occasional visit too. But anyhow I am back after a lovely weekend in the company of 18 other people so that's my family visiting done till Christmas.

Not read any of the other replies but will catch up tomorrow x

I took Madame to a new-to-us venue yesterday. She went pretty green on me in the first round so we ended up having two poles.

Went back in for the next class, where she promptly dropped me at fence four again. 🙄 We had words and she, thankfully, pulled her socks up to finish with an unlucky fence down.

We had Charlie Hutton doing a clinic at ours this afternoon, so Raz had a run through AM92 under Charlie’s watchful eye. We managed all of the changes in sort of the right places so I’m quietly hopeful that we’ll get through the test in one piece next weekend 😥

hope everyone had a good/successful weekend 🙂

We didn't have much planned for Halloween this year.

OH put up some decorations inside the house, but when I asked about buying sweets for chick'O'cheaters, she said she wasn't going to encourage that by putting decorations at the front of the house...

We bought a big pumpkin, and I was planning on carving the lantern teh night before, but then our daughter discovered that there was an open day at VU Amsterdam for the course she was interested in.

So, Halloween cancelled, and replaced with a quick trip to Amsterdam, back home on Saturday night for me to do my Galop 3 prep and test on Sunday (yesterday, as I'm writing).

We headed over the Swallowfield for a test riding clinic with Jo Swain and Richard Baldwin. As I was mucking out on Saturday morning I was genuinely questioning my sanity as the weather was biblical, and I was going it alone. Not normally a problem but it just makes everything a bit pants doesn't it?

We pulled up to Swallowfield after a bit of a hair raising journey (lorries and vans speeding past very close at ridiculous speeds - why?! In that weather!), and Bean was keen to get off the trailer. Despite it hammering down with rain I took her off and faffed about while I changed and tacked up. By that point she had got the wind up her arse - quite literally - and danced around the car park with me trying to wrestle her bridle on.

Luckily, Jo came down to see me and let me know that we would be indoors, hurrah! However walking down the side of the outdoor to get to the mounting block, Bean decided to do her best stallion impression, and proceeded to passage her way toward the school. Cue me sitting on an unexploded bomb when my arse hit the saddle. I had to do some careful management and slightly defensive riding for the first few minutes but she soon settled down.

Jo was great, I've not been taught by her before but she picked up on a few little issues, which once I had made some changes really improved Beans way of going, so thrilled with that. Richard watched us run through Novice 24 as that's the test I keep losing silly marks on. He went through movement by movement what the judge is looking for and it was so helpful, if anyone is debating doing a test riding clinic I would absolutely say do it, so worthwhile.

I was over the moon to get home and add up Richard's scores to see that we had nailed a 68.04% test - beaming!! No photos which is a shame as I was flying solo.

I clipped the beast yesterday so I'll be heading up to the yard tonight with sticky bum jods and a lunge before riding judging by Saturdays efforts!

sounds great, Sprat. I love test riding lessons, if you have a good judge there's lots of opportunities for lightbulb moments :)

It was great, I really enjoyed it and have been waxing lyrical to all of my horsey friends about it all weekend!

Rooni and Fig had a weekend of hacking. Quick spin in the school first for Rooni as he is just too sharp to go straight on the roads with.

He then had a big dog walk round Beacon - saddler came to grab saddle Saturday after riding as needs adjusting. He was really good and enjoyed it, looking forwards to going round in the saddle!

And Fig was a perfect leader and really good for my friend.

We did this on Saturday morning ❤❤

What an amazing time we had...

All the little one's friends were at schools jumping, but it's so competitive and so bitch we've decided to compete elsewhere instead.

I love all the sunny hacking pics, and we'll done RO for going and doing it when it was NOT sunny 😚😚

After team SJ didn't work out, I meant to do WH instead, but was feeling so rotten with my chest cold that I just went with OH and F to Tetrathlon training, and then hacked out when we got back.

This evening we both have WH lesson at the riding club.

We had a great final event, improvements in all three phases and a much calmer horse throughout. Henry was really settled in his job, and put his best hoof forward. The highlight was cross country where he galloped around and jumped everything out of stride, coming in 6 second under optimum time when I was just cruising and not riding to time at all. So proud of how he has handled this year, and now really looking forward to next year! We finished 5th so got a frilly and some money, plus he was placed third off the track thoroughbred too.

Well done all of those who got out this weekend and had fun. Fiona those pics are awesome. 72689577_10218623983763589_4437811792231530496_n.jpg

Well this happened... 66E55D2C-3E86-42ED-96D8-B19AE5DFDE49.jpeg
i have no idea how. This was maybe his 20th time in an arena. He listened as well as he could every step but he’s just so green. I spent years trying to get 70% at intro with Alfie but the new baby pony smashed it at first attempt 73.5%!! E53B103A-0063-4E5C-AFA0-36C61ACB5AA1.jpeg
Well he certainly looks the part!

Aren't Lakelands fabulous . . She's as mad as a box of frogs, but we love her. She's so much fun....

Really uncommon over here too.

Best dogs in my opinion. Full of character. Mine was absolutely bonkers, but still was an excellent TV viewing partner/snuggler.

I don't know what flavour dog I will get next. I don't think I want another Lakie; I don't want to know which parts of his character weren't "him" but rather were just breed traits.

Was yours a very talky dog? Lily is, she grumbles about stuff she doesn't like, and she barks to throw her ball...
