After a SHOCKING Winter my field was in the worse condition it has ever been in. It always gets wets, always has mud by the gates but never has it been so completely and utterly destroyed.

I've been feeding hay in the field all Winter and surprisingly the horses have not done to bad on it. As the ground has dried up they've really not enjoyed being on it as it was so rutted but today I finally managed to harrow it.

The field looks a million times better already and the horses did more moving around in an hour then they do in a day! They loved it and had a great time adding some news ruts :D

There is still ****** all grass, literally NONE, but at least they can go out without having to pick their way over the deep ruts/hard ground!

Here's a few piccys of them enjoying themselves -

They'll sleep well tonight :D

Sorry if piccys are massive, have resized them but they are still showing as huge on my screen!

Beautiful horses:D

But crikey you really have no grass at all, will you reseed ?

I think mine is just starting to grow, as its the first time mine have actually bypassed the haylage, and seem to be nibbling at something.

Wow wanna take my fatty coloured on a boot camp holiday?? silly I know but jealous of your turnout, our spring grass is starting to rear its head so muzzle is coming out for him.

But that brown and white thing, ick!!

Send her too me to get out of your way :p;)

They are both seriously gorgeous, and having a lot of fun :)

Lovely pictures! And wow, our sand school has more green in it than your field!

I will be more grateful for the bit of green I have in my field. xx

What lovely looking horses having fun.

OH managed to get his old tractor going yesterday so he harrowed our field and paddock, looks as you say much better, but now we need some April showers and sun to bring on the grass and then we can stop feeding hay.

Wow, I thought mine was bad!

I think people round here think I'm crazy, my mare is out on a bareish field, with 5 sheep (who have their own corralled area for maize and grass silage) and she is wearing her grazing muzzle!

The coloured is absolutely gorgeous...

Wow, I thought I had no grass, but hey... (Eek, hay!) I hope you have some summer paddocks. Lovely horses btw, are you still solvent after paying out for haylage a ll winter?

I am, just about!

When you say no grass, you really meant it!! Looks like they had a lot of fun skidding about though, so nice to see naked ponies playing happily! LOVE the coloured... shall I join the back of the queue?

My paddock looks like that, literally no grass for them even to nibble but I do have 3 very good doers. I will definitely reseed for next winter. I have other paddocks but the grass in them isn't growing and so I can't move the horses onto the summer paddocks until the grass grows or all of my land will look like that!

Oh goodness, that really is NO grass.

They look to be enjoying themselves though. Great pics

They seem happy enough which is all that matters. Not ideal but it can't be helped unfortunately!

Aww, fab pics!

Thanks :)

lovely photo's, thanks for sharing:)

Glad you enjoyed them :)

Oh wow, your coloured is just GORGEOUS!

Thankies, I think she is too but I am rather bias! Good job she's got looks on her side as she can be a top class pain in the backside to ride!

Beautiful coloured horse!

See above :D

They are having FUN! !!!!!

They had a great time :)

Yes I'll have to get it reseeded. Will buy some seed next week when the student loan comes through  but won't put it down till it warms up a bit!

I'd like a field like that for my fatty coloured. Your skewbald is absolutely gorgeous. Love the moves he's busting!

Lol, it would be great for a fatty! Missi the coloured can get porky but the lack of grass seems to be helping :p

Is your fatty coloured sensible? If so when shall I drop mine off?? ;)

Lol, a friend said it looks like a massive all weather turnout! Shame the mud will be back as soon as it rains :(

It's terrible isn't it! Is your grass growing?

I am, just about!

The coloured will have to go on livery and my TB will hopefully go up to where I work like he does every summer, trouble is they've not got much grass either (well compared to mine they've got tons!) despite the fields being rested all Winter!

My bank account does not look very healthy I have to say :(

Oh your coloured horse is gorgeous! Awesome photos!

Thanks :)

I absolutely love your coloured horse. :)

She is rather yummy, I think she will be worth all the ridden hassle in the end as she moves well!

I don't want showers quite yet but grass would be nice :o

Great action shots, wow that would make a great fatty paddock! Maybe we should swap for the summer :-)

Deal! :D

Lol, looks can be deceiving, she really is a ****** :p :D

All of the fields around me look like they do mid winter, no growth or goodness in them at all :(

Bless them they don't look like they care much that there's no grass absolutely gorgeous horses :)

Thanks :)

Made me smile :-) you have some lovely looking horses there. Pics are fab x

It made me smile watching them too :D although there were a few  moments!

Lovely pics! Your horses were a bit more energetic than my lot when they moved! :D

haha, I'm sure if mine were moved into a field of gate their heads would be straight down and they wouldn't move very far!

They look very happy :)

Do you still have your little mare Pixie who you got as a foal? Sorry I have probably missed several posts as not been in here much for a while but I remember when you got her and she was always one of my favourite HHO horses, I always wonder how she's getting on.

No, sadly I had to sell her last year as she just didn't grow big enough for me. She's gone to an amazing forever home though and although I am unlikely to see her in real life again (due to distance) I get updates on her through FB.

She's now backed and happily hacking out on her own which is lovely to hear/see :) It was sad to let her go but I know I'd taken her as far as I could so I don't regret for a second my decision to sell her.

The coloured was bought after I sold Pix as she's a more suitable size for me :)

Lovely pictures :D

Thanks :)

I am glad to hear she is doing well, she always looked like such a sweetie, it is great when you find them forever homes to go to. :)

Your new coloured looks lovely too :)
