Oh yes, we’ll all get together here towards the end of the summer. But not before that. It’s a massive change for him, and I don’t want him upset or confused by them visiting before that. But they’re getting daily updates, and my partner helped them move today so could reassure them that he’s doing ok.

That's a win-win all round to my mind! Lucky dog. lucky old owners and lucky you!

Wonderful outcome.

So, Jack has been with us for just over three weeks now.

He had a vet visit last week for them to look at his teeth (which are not great). He’s still too overweight for sedation for them to be cleaned, so he’ll go back in June for a review. He’s been on a diet for around 8 weeks, and has gone from 15.5 kg, to 13.65kg as of last week. His goal is 10kg (which may be a bit light, but we’ll see).

He’s really settled in well. A bit confused initially, and his coat has gone a bit meh, due to a bit of stress I think. But we’re taking everything slowly with him. He’s loving the garden, and generally supervising us when we’re busy with jobs outside ?. Daisy loves him, and he gets a lot of kisses in the morning when they get up.

Considering he was (is) so overweight he’s a bit tricky to feed - not a foodie at all, which is one of the reasons why I think the weight has come off him quite quickly, now that he’s not getting fed rubbish. He rarely eats breakfast, will pick at lunch, but eats up dinner well. I’ve changed his food to Eden which he finds a bit more tempting- but that’s it. I’m not changing it again. Eat it or go hungry.... ??

So all in all it’s going really well ??

You've done well with the dieting so far. I wonder if it's a breed trait as P dog prefers to eat half her supper, sometimes eating it all, but often eating the meat and leaving the kibble till breakfast, or more often her lunch. She's not food orientated at all, except for any cooked chicken or sausages ?
Hope he continues to lose steadily x

Amy may….re grumpy sod ..rofl….a few months back,I met an old man with his shih tzu
I decided to do a pyro and presented him with it as “ you have post”..it’s a phrase from a current italian surprise show ,so he got the gist…

Sometimes I see a dog I like..do the deed ,and present the unsuspecting with a pyro…it gives me and I hope them ,a smile in these difficult times.

I told him I was hesitant to give it to him as she looked so ” serious”…he replied I’d captured her perfectly…she’s a “ rompepalle “ ( a grumpy sod…) ?
